sandrock re-re-replay update: miguel keeps giving me potted purple hydrangeas. my house and yard are overflowing with purple hydrangeas. miguel thank you they're beautiful but i'm running out of space

#i went overboard on befriending miguel in the first act and so he became my first BFF in this playthrough #that makes the overall story and his place in it very interesting. gonna chew on that #anyway i wish i had purple hydrangeas irl. some flowers could really fix me at least temporarily #we used to grow hydrangeas in the backyard but we couldn't maintain the proper pH balance in the soil and they withered ;_;#sometimes the most beautiful flowers are the most needy #if i manage to get onto SSI/SSDI and start collecting checks for a while #maybe i could focus more mental and physical energy on gardening #we used to have a singular rose in our yard too but that also fell to neglect over the years #i really went off track here #mtap tag #delete later probably

^ i forgot owen said this. it falls perfectly in line with what i've talked about before, with this game's wonderful take on prison abolition. logan, having done actual crimes (albeit most of the ones he actually committed were him trying to put food in the mouths of his found family while they were fugitives), desperately wants to atone with his community and he thinks that means imprisonment, and practically begs to be put into jail. everybody refused. "you're just putting up barriers that you don't deserve, and it doesn't help anyone. it just pushes you further away from us." 👏👏👏

^ speaking of jail. i'm not sure how miguel sent me a birthday present from his cell, but i appreciated it. it actually is kind of touching to receive a warm gesture from a person who is so cold. (especially since it wasn't another potted hydrangea) don't worry, i'm getting him out of that jail soon. the prison abolition principle is consistent

^ i'm instant besties with logan because i made all the right choices before friendship was unlocked. forgot that our height difference means i'm nearly touching The Butt. not yet, builder. keep it appropriate until you're official

aw MANNNNNN i forgot in act 2 (roughly speaking. this game doesn't have discrete acts, i'm going off of story structure) when you find out pen and miguel's allegiances and secret plans, they get suspicious of you and publicly accuse you of being a spy for logan when they arrest haru. which is so fucking crazy in this playthrough since pen is my boyfriend and miguel is my best friend. big ouch all around

#idk how i forgot that part. somehow i thought the builder's growing knowledge of the coup flew under the radar for longer than this #but sadly pen and miguel are not stupid. and even more sadly for the builder they are ruthless regardless of previous affection #in particular pen's capacity for bastardous behavior knows no bounds. miguel is cruel in this moment #but at least he didn't pretend any of his feelings up to this moment. I THINK #mtap tag #mtas spoilers / ????#i'm not sure i need to tag for that anymore

spent most of my sick day playing more sandrock (i did make one little sewn felt item shhhhh) and during my current playthrough i decided to do what i think of as the hurt/comfort run -- romancing pen first and then eventually ending up with logan. finally became lovers with pen, so it's all downhill or uphill from here, depending on how you feel about megatoxic doomed relationships

also i got to hug status with miguel. unsuur watches me embrace the cold inimical pastor from afar, inscrutable as always

#my feelings about pen are even more complicated than my feelings about miguel #(honestly my feelings about miguel aren't all that complicated. HE'S complicated and i simply love him)#(but pen is [redacted] and a [redacted]. i'm glad the relationship is doomed)#(he's not just the meanspirited arrogant jock. he's worse <3 but that's what makes the romance route so interesting)#mtap tag

ok it's asking if im a robot so last question: initial thoughts on My Time At Evershine

i'm like. not feeling the art direction so far. it's disappointing to me. i liked portia for it's strange, kinda ugly art style, because it was unique and had a lot of heart! and i liked sandrock bc some of the designs felt almost professor layton-esque. it struck a good balance between unique and conventionally pretty.

evershine has zero soul in its visuals........so far. it's still in early development so maybe there's hope that they'll regain their senses
