What is OT + First Blog Post!
OT is occupational therapy. What is occupational therapy? To be concise, occupational therapy is the practice of getting people back into their daily occupations and do what is meaningful to them. For example, people who are going into rehab could be receiving therapy towards their injuries to help them get back into better mobility or regain their skills. Ok, so why am I talking about all of this? On a blog that I have no followers on at the moment and that I literally just started??? I just really want to get my thoughts out so that I can read back and reflect on why I wanted to pursue OT in the first place. Honestly, I’m not an expert in the field; I’ve volunteered and observed in specific settings of occupational therapy, but I’m still in the process of hearing back from admissions for the 2019-2020 year.
I’m really just rambling on right now because I’m super tired and I’m just typing away whatever’s on my mind, but I’ll just say one last thing about what my short-term goals are for now. I really really really want to get into USC’s program. It’s an amazing program! I’ve met so many therapists that graduated from their program and after doing so much research on it, I just really see myself growing there. Financially, it is expensive, but it also is the only school that I would be able to commute from home. I’ve been told by other therapists that the money is a lot, but it all becomes worth it, and right now I’m just really drawn to USC. Again, my mind is all over the place and I’ve probably made so many errors in this post, but I’m going to end this with: I love OT! P.S. This blog is really just for me to look back on and something I’ve been meaning to start during my gap year! I’ll kind of just post whatever I like (and maybe act like I have an audience), but if you happen to stumble on mine, then welcome and thanks for checking it out :)
