Melody of Mine: A Tale
After months of quietly chipping away at this tiny playlist idea, it’s at last ready to see the light of day :)
During the war, trapped somewhere between crushing boredom and total exhaustion, I had an idea.
I only had music to keep me company, and it made me realise how much it has shaped the little moments of my life. I’ve always seen music as an inherent part of my existence, woven into nature itself. And I wanted to remember them.
I wanted an archive. No matter the genre (and trust me, of that there are many, lol), I wanted to capture these moments. To gather the obsessions that have soundtracked my days over the years. So I looked back, searching for the songs that didn’t just get stuck in my head, but got stuck in my history—tying themselves forever to a personal era, a daydream, or a story I couldn’t let go of.
This playlist is the result. It runs chronologically, spanning from when I was ten years old all the way to today, with each new obsession stacking at the very top.
I’d inevitably forgotten a few older tracks, and I’m sure memory will suddenly strike on a random Tuesday and force me to scroll down and add more in. But the core of it is here. It is my story, mapped out so I never forget it.
Because a song is never just a song. It’s a jar we trap our memories inside. Music catches our identity—our past, our present, and our unwritten futures—keeping them safe until we are ready to press play and remember who we are.
Because music... music is everything.
