Hey! I have a very quick question about OSAP documents! When filling out MSFAA, can the bank account number you provide belong to someone else (partner, parent...) or does it have to be under your own name? I used my mother's account for everything else for OSAP but I'm not sure if it's an issue if I provide hers on the MSFAA, since it says on the form that it has to be "under your name".
If you are a joint signer on the account, it shouldn’t be a problem but generally it is required that your name be on the account because sometimes OSAP needs to take payments out and I don’t think they can do that if the accountholder hasn’t given them permission. You can just go to the bank with your mom and have them add you onto the account and make it a joint account.
Alternatively, something I recommend much more, is using your own bank account. All the banks have student banking plans which are decent and don’t require minimum balances or have fees associated with them.
Also in terms of everything else for OSAP - could you clarify what you mean? As far as I know, the only piece of paper on which you need to include banking information is the MSFAA. If you do open an account under your own name, you might need to change over the other paperwork to make sure everything is consistent.
