1, 6, 9, and 19! (for the wlw ask)
1. Who was your first girl crush?Â
If I go back and think about my childhood, probably Hilary Duff! I really *cough* ADMIRED her in second grade.
6. Who is your favorite sapphic celebrity and why?
That’s really hard! I have a bunch I follow and care about just for putting it out there and living their lives, from Lily Tomlin, to Ellen Page, to Lauren Jauregui and Natasha Negovanlis.
9. Do you want to get married? If so, why?
I always go back and forth on this, and the answer is: I’m not sure. I don’t want to do it to please family or for the express sake of having kids (something I’d very much like to do). If I get married, it’ll be a placeholder for a commitment I know I can make: promising each and every day to love that woman as best I can. And it’ll be because it feels right.
19. What’s your favourite female characteristic?
At the risk of sounding really stereotypical I love that girls a) are prepared with things like tampons and charged phones and listening skills and b) that with the right ones, everything feels like an adventure.
song me some Joseph Warren, if you will
Don’t Stop Me Now (I’m not saying I’m picturing Dr. Sexy Joseph Warren rampaging through Boston kissing girls and punching soldiers singing this song dressed like Freddie Mercury, but that’s exactly what I’m picturing.)
@msculper you are, as usual, absolutely correct
She Walks in Beauty?
She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that’s best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes
(I’m such a cliche but I just really love these lines)
Put a poem in my ask and I will reply with my favourite lines of it.

APUSH taught it as the southern states claiming it was for states' rights, if I remember correctly. Basically I was taught that slavery was a major issue/cause, but there were also political and social divisions that lead the South to secede, not just the one big one.
That makes sense! I guess I just personally feel that like, declaring “state’s rights” as the official reason kind of hides the #1 'right’ that got everyone riled up.
“We want to expand our territory- to have more slave states.” “We want to annex Cuba- to have more slave power and economic influence.” “We want this nation to be more agrarian and less industrial! .... because our way of life is pretty set in stone and is heavily reliant on a specific thing. A very specific thing. That starts with an s....”
I think it should go hand in hand, but the slavery question shouldn’t be shoved aside when it was so integral to American society as a whole.
