So I'm gonna start by saying I'm not really a fan of the newest dd series or Zdarsky, so I'm not gonna rec them.

Daredevil (1964) - this one is insanely long, but it's kind of worth it because you get the classic storylines like the Elektra saga, Born Again, and some other interesting storylines. It's a good series to get to know the dd cast.

Guardian Devil - i hate this series. it's terrible. the literal only reason I'm putting this on here is because of Karen's death and the fact that it happens right before the next series I'm about to rec.

Daredevil (Bendis and Maleev) - I really like this series. It's probably my second favorite after the two Waid/Samnee runs. Matt has to deal with being outted to the tabloids and we get Milla. I think my one gripe is there's not enough of Matt being a funny little man in this. But tbf he is going through it.

Daredevil (Brubaker and Lark) - this one was good up until the end. I'm still mad at them for how they did Milla. Otherwise it was a pretty good run. Matt goes to prison in this one.

Daredevil (2011) and (2014) by Waid and Samnee - I love these two series. They're my favorite. I love how they balance funny moments with truly horrifying moments.

his family was part of a cult that was like a warped version of their religion bc of a goddess named zeris who sacrifices them to a sea god that gave her her powers. javier's parents were a polycule. he has three moms and a dad. he has a twin brother named iggy and a younger sister helena.

two of his moms were killed for going against the cult. his dad was beaten and left for dead out in the wilderness. his sister helena was exiled for necromancy (luckily she was found and adopted by a kind couple). his remaining mom decided to run away with javier's uncle's family to blackwood, where his wife had family. but they got separated from them and ended up in necropolis, where javier is kidnapped and forced to be a reaper for elysium city (which is a city who claims its a utopia by forcing citizens of necropolis to do labor for them and sucks up their resources. reapers are unwilling enforcers who are tortured and programmed to do the government's bidding).

javier is about 10 or 11 when he becomes a reaper. he thinks his family is dead. he's alone in the world. then he meets peter. who he feels something for. they don't click right away because it's such a hostile environment, where the reapers are pitted against each other and the programming does a bunch of nasty stuff to their perception of each other (like it gives them horrible nightmares about being killed by the other reapers. it also numbs them. but the programming only works for like a few weeks at most. it has to constantly be reinforced).

despite all of this, peter and javier become friends and they're inseparable. they're the only people who understand each other.

for years, peter was like the one positive connection he had.

later, once they get with carter and they settle down, javier is actually the most social one of the three. he has kind of a quiet, down to earth personality where he doesn't get mad easy, but when he does, watch out.

he likes reading about botany and he has plants in the house and in a little garden behind the house.

he likes playing with peter's cats.

the neighbors love javier. they invite him to everything. i think javier has an easier time adapting than peter and carter because he was part of a community when he was young, and it's his natural state to be involved with people. whereas peter and carter were more isolated when they were kids.

when javier meets scott for the first time, it's like meeting his weird guy soulmate. they love going fishing together and going on walks and exploring the woods together (peter is insanely jealous and bites scott when he comes near him.)

thanks for sending this! it's been a while since i poked at friday i'm in love. so i'm trying to remember exactly what i had planned for it lol. tbh i'm debating just making it its own separate thing.

- peter and miguel have a lot of respect for each other and get along pretty well. miguel's a little more laid back than peter, and people like him, which puts peter at ease (even though it annoys him that people like miguel more lol).

- miguel is married to tempest, but she likes peter so it's cool. the three of them go out to dinner together when peter's in town.

- some of miguel's special interests are the ocean and weather systems. peter's is city design, object design, and movies. they sit there listening with heart eyes while the other rambles.

- they play chess together in the park.

- i think at some point in sm 2099 he works for peter as a geneticist? before parker industries goes down.

- peter is doing badly in the aftermath of superior. he has nightmares, he dissociates, and he's borderline suicidal. then after wade shoots him, it pushes him over and he tries to commit suicide.
