disclaimer: i am still very new to the world of dungeoning and dragoning and am still learning how this works. also i bent the rules a bit to make them fit my wip.

FINNPETRA FLUFF FEBRUARY ❃ A SERIES OF DRABBLES

            ~ a masterlist

for the month of february 2021, i wrote and posted several short fluffy pieces revolving around my stressed plant ace Petra and my grumpy plant bi Finneas. these were set within and around the events of my wip, the muddy roads & foxgloves series, at different stages of their relationship, from childhood friends who had drifted apart and found each other again, to falling in love on a road trip, to everything thereafter.

STARGAZING. while the road trip gang spends a night at a motel in the middle of nowhere, Finneas wanders off to do a little stargazing. (792 words)

BREAKFAST IN NISRAHA. Petra and Finneas wake up before the others one morning on the road trip and decide to have a quiet little hotel breakfast. (1165 words)

THE BOTANICAL GARDENS.  Finneas and Petra go on a date to the botanical gardens. (507 words)

STUDY BREAK.  while Petra is freaking out over midterms, Finneas encourages her to take a break. (745 words)

FINNEAS’ BIRTHDAY.  Finneas gets a little visit at work from Petra on his birthday. (736 words)

PETRA’S BIRTHDAY.  Petra gets a little surprise from Finneas on her birthday. (825 words)

BAD DREAM. Finneas has one of his usual bad dreams, but this time, Petra is around to comfort him. (809 words)

THE BRACELET. Petra finds a little gift she made years ago in Finneas’ car. (903 words)

MORNING CUDDLES. now that they’re together, Finneas and Petra agree to share the motel bed. (899 words)

BUILDING FURNITURE. moving in together means getting new furniture, and getting new furniture means having to build the furniture. (706 words)

ICE SKATING. the couple goes on an ice skating date, but Finneas never learned how to skate. (900 words)

TENDING WOUNDS. Petra gets the magical healing treatment from Finneas. (653 words)

SPROUTING. it’s... it’s just kissing. (852 words)

THE CAT.  Petra and Finneas welcome a new member into the family. (910 words)

DOODLES. Petra tries out her hidden artistic talents on a new muse. (838 words)

THE LIFT. Finneas lends Petra a hand to get a new plant home. (1218 words)

GROCERIES. Finneas and Petra take a trip to the store to grab some special ingredients and end up having a contest. (708 words)

COOKING. Petra and Finneas try out a special recipe. (794 words)

RAIN. Finneas and Petra’s first real date doesn’t quite go as planned. (1298 words)

THE LETTER. Finneas helps Petra deal with some disappointing news. (804 words)

for FinnPetra, obviously. uh, pretend they’re already dating.

Petra was only gone from the room a few minutes, but in that short time, Finneas had somehow made his way into her old oversized camp sweatshirt.

Oversized for her, of course. Only slightly snug on him.

"Is that my shirt?" she demanded.

"I don't know, is it?" Finneas replied, trying, and failing, to suppress a smirk as he leaned back into the bed, almost as if posing.

"Yes, it is," Petra insisted, joining him on the bed making a swipe for his sleeve. 

He quickly held his arm out of her reach. "Where did you get it?"

"Camp. I bought it from the shop the last year we—" Her voice trailed off as her memory cleared. "Oh, no. I didn't. You did. You lent it to me on that last night when we were stargazing and I was cold."

"And you never gave it back." Finneas shook his head in mock disapproval. "Is that how you thank me?"

"I'm sure I was going to," Petra defended. "But my mom came to pick us up early the next morning and I had to rush to make sure Val didn't forget anything in their cabin and I guess I forgot."

"Excuses, excuses."

"You know what?" Petra said. "Take it. It's about time you had it back."

"No, keep it," he protested, starting to pull it over his head. "You've had it for so long already, it's practically yours at this point."

Petra stopped him, placing her hand over his. "You bought it. It is your shirt."

i’ll be doing it for muddy roads & foxgloves, comme d’habitude 😌

1. i’m not even sure if this counts anymore bc this wip has changed SO, so much since its conception, but my original inspiration for the first version of MR&F was Hozier’s music. (for those of you who haven’t been here that long, MR&F was originally a wip called wasteland that featured an apocalyptic curse of plants taking over the world, and the squad was on a quest to travel to some forgotten swamp to find the magical plant that would stop the curse. somewhere along the way tho i decided to drop the apocalypse and swamp vibes so idk if it’s still Hozieresque at all jfkjds.)

2. i vaguely remember, back when this wip was still just an aesthetic and two and a half characters with no plot, there was a conversation about road trips in a writing server on discord, and while i was lurking on their discussing and it just clicked that what this wip needed was a road trip. so, that’s one of the inspirations i guess.

3. ???? my plants ???? i’ve been a plant mom for a few years now but at the beginning of the p*ndemic, right as i started planning this wip, my interest in plants sort of exploded with all the time i was suddenly spending at home, and so that made its way into my writing.

was i supposed to pick pieces of media? bc besides Hozier’s music in general there really aren’t any specific pieces of media that inspired me kjgfdsj
