3 things I'm enjoying about The Other Bennet Sister:
Mary is autistic-coded. I think there are many of Austen's characters that you can argue have autistic traits, and it's nice to see this being explored in such a wholesome way here.
the nods to the much-loved 1995 BBC adaptation of P&P, particularly Hill. IYKYK. I may have got something in my eye at that point . . .
Mr Hurst (ep4). He loves horses.
Jane Austen: Darcy, you see an older jolly-looking fellow coming in your direction-
Fitzwilliam Darcy: another one? Miss Bingley, please dance with me-again.
Caroline Bingley: *fake-swooning* oooh, Mr Darcy~again? what would the other guests say?
Charles Bingley: *heh* probably that he is kind of a prick? Or that you guys are an item.
Fitzwilliam Darcy: I have danced with Mrs Hurst too-I am still not romancing anyone.
Caroline Bingley: *sing-song voice* we will see about that!
Jane Austen: the poor guy remains in the middle of the room awkwardly, and then walks away; the older ladies that have introduced themselves as Mrs Bennet and Lady Lucas look at the scene and start whispering furiously-
Fitzwilliam Darcy: *rolling his eyes* I can only imagine what they are saying.
Charles Bingley: hey, can I guess what is the general opinion of us at this ball?
Jane Austen: sure, roll a Perception Check.

Watching P&P 95 again while cleaning and there’s a few small details that I’m just loving right now
Kitty and Lydia (with their soldiers) dancing with other children in the background when Lizzie and Charlotte are talking. Maria Lucas is not one of the children (but she looks like she wishes she were).
Mr Darcy’s small expressions. Like when he’s flabbergasted and clearly thinking “this is the story Wickham has been telling? This is what Meryton thinks is true?” after Lizzie first rejects him.
Mrs Gardiner tells Lizzie to be careful on the rocks, not wanting to “face [her] father if [she] fell.” And while it’s the hills, it felt like a subtle nod to Persuasion-Lyme.
Chatsworth is mentioned as a compatible house/grounds to tour for Pemberley (Mr Gardiner getting Lizzie to agree to go) and the 2005 version used Chatsworth as Pemberley.
When Lizzie and Georgiana meet, they’re practically wearing the same colors.
Mr Hurst looks almost dead on the sofas. It’s hilarious,
When Lizzie and Jane look at knowingly in turn as Bingley and Darcy are spotted coming to call.
And then like 5 minutes later the look of wonder and confusion and quizzicalness on Bingley’s face when Darcy confesses and Bingley insists on a blessing.

When tea was over, Mr Hurst reminded his sister-in-law of the card table - but in vain. She had obtained private intelligence that Mr Darcy did not wish for cards; and Mr Hurst soon found even his open petition rejected. She assured him that no one intended to play, and the silence of the whole party on the subject, seemed to justify her. Mr Hurst had therefore nothing to do, but stretch himself on one of the sophas and go to sleep.
When thinking of all the rude and self-indulgent men that appear in Jane Austen's books, lets not forget the minor characters, like Mr Hurst.

Propaganda...
Lord Manwaring (2016): I think the caption on the picture says it all lol, although I will add that he certainly captures Lady Susan's singular attention, when it seemed she would never settle down with one man 👀
Mr Hurst (1995) : He's here to drink, nap and grunt supportively at his wife's bitchy comments.
