(...) “usually, people are joking when they say that… i never thought i’d hear someone really mean it,” he pauses, shifting in his seat to lean towards his left with his elbow on the table and a hand resting against his cheek to keep his head held up, “what’s it like to literally have a throne down there?”

His expression shifts into an easy little grin when Minho looks up at him after his comment, and he listens with pleased contentment to the young man stating he never thought he’d hear anyone say that and mean it. That’s exactly why he likes to make comments like these sometimes, and he’s glad it pulled a little reaction from his nephew. Not that he is desperate to have some sort of great relationship with Zeus’ son, but more so because he enjoys making people smile.

“Much the same as having a throne anywhere else, I presume,” he replies quite honestly. “It sounds all cool and great to everyone else, but they don’t have to deal with the metaphorical paperwork that comes with being a ruler. It’s a whole headache and a half.” He gives a little shrug of his shoulders as he picks up his cup of coffee to take a sip. “On the other hand having a small army of Hellhounds at my disposal is definitely nice.”

Kibin left his friend’s house early one afternoon, the breeze smelling of what was left of summer and carrying a slight chill with it. He’d just gotten his makeup done, a soft look consisting of peach tones on his eyes and lips, with faint sparkles framing his gaze. Kibin liked to visit his fellow make up artists to let them practice on him, and he always felt pretty by the end of it. Adorning his head was a pink cat headband to match, completing his look. Even if he was ordinarily into the morbid things, it was fun to at least look pretty sometimes. The young demigod stopped by the coffee shop for a croissant and a small iced tea, continuing on his way down the street. His eyes wandered along the storefronts as he went, resting on a sign for the flower shop. 

Curiosity piqued, Kibin took a long drink of his tea and licked the last buttery crumb of croissant from his lip. Flowers were a common subject in his art, serving as backdrops and ornaments alike. Plus, it had been some time since he’d had some live flowers to brighten his apartment. What could it hurt to have a look around? Kibin went into the shop, a tiny bell announcing his arrival. Immediately, he slipped among the flowers, his eyes taking in the colors, shapes, and scents. The shop was a vivid explosion, a feast for the senses.

Kibin felt himself drawn to a bouquet of soft pink roses, perhaps because they resembled the shades of his make up. Picking them up with careful hands, Kibin took them to the counter. The shop employee seemed busy at the moment, his back turned, but the demigod didn’t mind. Kibin’s fingertips caressed the soft petals as he waited, the pink reflecting on his pale skin. Kibin’s mind ran through the dozens of scenes he could create with the roses as inspiration, his excitement building in anticipation.

Hera took a shaky breath as she walked down the sidewalk. Her bag hung comfortably in the crook of her elbow as she wrung her hands nervously. A week or so before, Zeus had come to her after a council meeting and told her about a son of his that was to be arriving soon. Hera was thankful that he was open with her about the situation and still has some mixed feelings but, she knows Minho is not at fault for how she feels deep in her gut. A day or so later his file appeared on her desk in city hall, telling him where he would be living, working, and who he was related to. Thankfully she didn’t have to find out about his arrival this way or maybe this meeting would be a bit different. 

Zeus told her Minho didn’t know about her and Hera was okay with that. She didn’t intend to waltz into the flower shop and announce that she was his father’s wife, no, she just wanted to check up on him make sure he was settling in nicely. The motherly side of her was anxious to make sure he was taking the move well and enjoying the city. She was also kind of excited to meet him, to see how much like Zeus he was. Her heart was pounding as she pushed through the green door she was very familiar with as she was a regular here at Yggdrasil. The bell above the door signaled her arrival and she quickly donned the motherly and regal smile she chose to mask her nervousness with.

She recognized him easily from the photo that is still on her desk in the city hall, a very handsome young man. Her eyes trailed the shop to find that they were the only two in the front at that moment. With a twist in her gut, her heels clicked on the hard floors as she walked up to the counter he was behind. Perfectly manicured hands laid on the counter’s surface, steadying herself as she gave the young man a smile.

he rolls his eyes at his friend’s words, making sure to add plenty of ‘i’m so done with your shit’ levels of annoyance to the sigh he exhales afterwards.

“don’t worry,” he says, reaching out to throw his arm around minho’s shoulders and put his hand on the man’s head to mess up his hair. “they’re serving the idiots last so you didn’t miss your turn yet.” he beams the man a cheeky grin then as he lets go of him again and walks over to the door of the cafe they had decided to meet at.

he hasn’t known minho long, only met him on the island, connecting over something to do with flowers. before long they were throwing shade at each other left and right, and sveinn quite enjoys the absolute lack of a need to remain friendly and stick to more generally accepted communication. that and the younger man is the sort of person that doesn’t drain his energy when he’s around them.

it’s funny, he thinks, how all of the friends he’s made since coming to this island are younger than him. apparently he’s got less issues with them. funny, considering he’s never had any issues with older people, either. or maybe he’s just really bad with authority. who will say?
