Curses
Continued from here with @mpbaekhyun
It had become Baekhyunâs new habit. Coming to Asclepius General Hospital to meet up with his instructor, sometimes for an mini oral exam, sometimes for the report and questions about his project, and sometimes just talking aboutâŚstuff in general, like what they were doing. That dayâs topic was magic-related things, and somehow, his instructor ended up with a statement, which Baekhyun thought to be quite self-assured.
âThatâs may be true for immortals, I mean, the Almighty Gods and Goddesses. Someone like you, sir.â The demigod said in an unassuming manner. His eyes fell on his own hands as he continued, âWell, you knowâŚsometimes I think that my ability is a curse. It stopped me from living a normal life with my mother. Not that Iâm complaining or anything, justâŚsometimes, I wish I wasnât born as a demigod.â
Anubis had come to enjoy the time he spent with Baekhyun. Where at first they sporadically met up at the hospital, to discuss school related stuff only, now the demigod visited him as good as every day to talk. Their conversation topics differ from day to day and under the guise of being nothing more than his mentor, Anubis had a real chance to get to know his son. A chance he truly was grateful for since heâd grown fond on the boy who shared his ambition and interest in the human heart.
During their random conversations, Anubis more than once had brought the subject to Ancient Egypt. Although he always eluded the fact he was an Egyptian god, perhaps the smart demigod would have made the correct assumption by now that he was part of the Egyptian pantheon. Honestly, he would be surprised if Baekhyun wouldnât have found his love for Ancient Egypt and his knowledge about that particular time strange. Today, as he was making his way with Baekhyun towards his first patient of the day he had to check up on, Anubis had begun to talk about âtheâ mummies of Egypt and their link to curses. The god had tried to make a joke with his statement, yet it apparently had gone over Baekhyunâs head entirely. Perhaps his own sense of humor was just off.
Anubis knew that any loving parent would find it near devastating to hear that their children werenât happy with who they are. And when his own son stated that he wasnât as happy with his life as Anubis hoped he would be even he felt this light weight on his heart. Examining the other for a moment, he contemplated his words. âI have to admit that there are some easier powers to live with than the one you have.â A hum, then, âYou think it would have been easier if someone had taught you how to control your ability?â
