D- Drunk (What are they like when they’re drunk)

Oh Marcus is 100% a cuddly, clingy, lovey drunk

He’s going to be hanging all over you, much more PDA than he’s normally into with ridiculously sloppy kisses and a heavy arm around you and a head on your shoulder.

He’s drowning you (and anyone nearby) in compliments

When he’s absolutely sloshed he doesn’t remember that you’re together and tries to flirt with you

Your friend says something like “your boyfriend is so drunk”

And he gets all sad and grumpy 

“You have a boyfriend already? I thought you would let me take you out.”

“We’re already together, Marcus.”

He giggles “That was fast.”

Acts of Service! I definitely think that’s one of his top love languages

He never expects anything of course, but when you do something for him unprompted. All bets off. 

He would never ask anyone to take care of him, he’s a grown-up, but he loves to be taken care of sometimes.

He wakes up and you’re making breakfast? He’s in love all over again. And it includes coffee already made exactly how he likes it? Marry him on the spot please

If he has a bad day you instantly know exactly what would make him feel better and that is just the best thing to him. To be known that intimately makes his heart swell and he’s happy to reciprocate that

N- Needy (When do they feel particularly needy? How do they show it?)

When stress gets to him he’s not really one to shut people out

He craves company in those times

He needs you nearby. He loves a bit of physical attention then. 

And he’s not afraid to ask for it either. He will. 

“I just need a cuddle right now.”

And you’ll happily oblige.

Head on your chest, you brushing your hand through his hair. 

Being the little spoon

Even just intertwined hands while watching something on TV is enough to ground him and relax him.

W- Wow (What do you do that really surprises them? What do you do that they really like?)

Honestly? Just staying with him. 

Even when he does something stupid or is afraid he’s tried to move too fast once again, you stay. 

After a divorce and a couple of failed long-term relationships, that’s sadly unique to him. 

He’s surprised that he can mess up and you can still want him.

Obviously, that doesn’t make any real sense, but he’s been hurt and it’s made him a little nervous in having conflict in relationships.

That you can have serious conflict and still choose him is amazing to him sometimes.

i would honestly recommend at least his episodes? i can’t speak for the whole show, but as crime shows go, at least in his episodes, it was a pretty good one.

marcus + grocery shopping hcs

as i mentioned in a previous headcanon, he is a man of order and planning. i truly believe that.

so he goes into grocery shopping like he does anything else: with a plan.

he doesn’t hate grocery shopping per say, but he also doesn’t love it and he wants to limit it as much as possible

therefore, he’s on a mission when he goes.

i’d say he’s more the type to shop as needed, a couple of small trips a week to restock instead of one giant shop. 

the big trips are too just long and tedious. being under those damn fluorescents for that long sucks the life out of him

so little trips after work are IT

he doesn’t get mad at you for going off list and impulse buying, but you get “the look” 

it never actually scares you. you just laugh.

“I need a better mad look” he says

“I don’t think you have it in you, babe.” you say as you add another unplanned item to the cart.

he does it too sometimes, so he can’t even pretend

also if you don’t think he is going to farmer markets on weekends you are lying to yourself!!

he loves them! loves getting fresh stuff from people in his neighborhood.

he gets to know the vendors that go consistently

they’re on a first name basis

the little old ladies that come with their goods just LOVE him and always give him deals

Geeeeeez that’s a shock to anyone innit?

I think we can say with confidence that Marcus is a planner. He’s gonna be thinking through everything the moment you find out you’re expecting in the first place: immediately figuring out with you what needed to be bought, decorating, everything. So you guys think you’ve GOT IT yanno? The presumed right number of cribs — one—, the mental preparation. You’re GOOD.

But then... Two? That’s a shock to his planner brain. He’s not upset about it by any means. This man definitely wants multiple children. But having some of those multiple at once certainly was not in the mental preparation. He’s not scared, per say, or thinking he’s not going to be a good father, but every first time parent is bound to have some fears just in the unknown and not having a guide on how to do this whole thing. It’s a good thing, but overwhelming. So he takes it one manageable piece at a time: today buy a second crib, then buy second sets of this and that, then read about what it looks like to raise twins— letting them have their separate identities, bonding with them, etc. He’s pretty awesome in that way: he’s not pretending to have it all together, but is absolutely kicking ass at being an excellent organizer and support system for you. We love to see it.
