Ring Crew (Jon Moxley x Eddie Kingston)
Title: Ring Crew
Summary: Eddie gets him and Mox in trouble.
Warnings: Minor language. Fluff
“This is all your fucking fault, King,” Mox grumbled as he unloaded gear from the box. If he wouldn’t have gotten involved, hadn’t opened his mouth, he wouldn’t be lugging around Chikara crates and making sure everything was in order.
“My fault? How the hell is this my fault?” Eddie asked as he checked the ropes. “If Claudio didn’t have such a punchable face…”
“Well, if it was his fault, he’d be here helping us instead of hanging out with Fire Ant and Chuck Taylor.”
“Well, you didn’t have to help. I had everything under control.”
“Claudio had you in a headlock and your face was turning purple. What was I supposed to do? Go get popcorn and see how long it took you to fucking pass out?” Mox slammed the trunk shut before going to tie on the turnbuckles. “Couldn’t let you get suspended again. I don’t think you want to go work at a gas station or ask your mom for money.”
“Leave my ma outta this,” Eddie growled.
“Shit, sorry.” They were both quiet for a minute before Mox spoke up again. “Everything ok?”
“Peachy.” Eddie wouldn’t look at him, but Mox knew something was bothering him. MOx wasn’t exactly the best at conveying emotion, and he had been known to skip out when people started talking about their feelings, but this was different. This was Eddie.
“What’s wrong?”
“I told you, everything is fine. For fucks sake Mox.” Eddie grumbled. Mox stared at the older man. Eddie could feel his eyes burning a hole into him. He sighed. “Really wanna know what’s wrong?”
“Yeah.” Mox nodded. He might be a hardass, and kinda a dick at times, but he did care about Eddie.
“Money’s tight at home. Ma tries to act like everything’s fine, but my brother told me all about it.” Eddie sighed. “I don’t want to give her any more of a reason to worry about me. She’s got enough on her plate, and I’m not there near enough to help.”
“Why didn’t you say something?” Mox asked.
“What are you going to do? You’re not in much better shape than I am.” Eddie shrugged.
“Well, you could at least talk to me. You know I’m your friend.”
“Yeah, I know.” Eddie nodded. Mox decided to do something brave, even for him. Something that would probably result in a punch to the face.
He grabbed Eddie’s arm and pulled him to him for a kiss.
And surprisingly, the punch never came. Instead, confusion turned into understanding as Eddie kissed Mox back. After what seemed like a lifetime, but more likely was only a minute, the two separated. Eddie had a grin on his face.
“About damn time.” Eddie chuckled. “Just thought I’d have to kiss you first.”
“Did you lie about that stuff with your ma just so I’d kiss you?”
“No, but it did get a good outcome.” Eddie chuckled. “Come on, let’s go finish this up. I’d like to try out this kissing thing some more.” For the first time in his life, he saw Jon Moxley blush. Maybe fighting with Claudio wasn’t so bad after all.
