[It had been a long time since Cardinal had paid a visit to MHHQ.

He couldn’t recall having gone there for several years, actually. Not since almost two years ago, when the enchanted watch warned him that Issimo was in danger, and they helped bail him out. He’d spoken with Issi since then, of course, but that wasn’t at the base.

He’d tried to keep a low profile, and as he paced around the basement of the closed café in his home world, he contemplated paying an unexpected visit; he wanted to talk to his first best friend in person, where they could really hang out without the temptation to multitask.

He wanted to get OUT of the city. Away from the constant, miserable barrage of danger. Going to the Meadow didn’t help; then they got half-fragments of memories involving some sort of disaster he couldn’t remember, and didn’t feel like dealing with. (One disaster at a time was plenty for him.)

He just wanted the chance to talk, hear how his friend was doing, what was going on.

But before he warped off, he couldn’t help but remember the last conversation he’d had regarding the MHHQ and the whole debacle they’d been involved in—

It just wasn’t safe to go there outright without knowing if Shade Fox had made him a marked man. And even if he hadn’t, it still wasn’t ideal… too many cameras, too much Big Brother for his liking. He didn’t mind a few cameras here and there for mundane utility, but when it came to discussing personal things…? He wanted to make sure that stayed private.]

Cardinal: -Frowns, running a hand through his hair- …

Cardinal: (…Guess I should probably ping him, first, and make sure he even has the time or energy for this.)

[He sure hoped so, though. He hadn’t had the chance to hang out in a LONG time; Issimo had been working, and up until last Christmas, Cardinal had been mostly-dead for several years… sleeping through most of the time he wasn’t suffering from weird Time™ illnesses.]

Cardinal: -Snaps his fingers softly in an absentminded fashion- (That reminds me… I need to check in with Rockwell, too. (( @overx)) I haven’t seen him since… man, I don’t even remember when this was, but I was on the couch, watching a video…)

Cardinal: Mmmn. (C’mon, Louis, focus for once, will ya…?)

[PING!]

[DLN-000 to OXN-002] //: -STATUS INQUIRY: OXN-002-

[A brief pause.]

[DLN-000 to OXN-002] //: You able to meet up for a few hours or somethin’, Issimo?

[DLN-000 to OXN-002] //: It’s been absolutely ages, and I did claim—the last time I was there, dunno if the others mentioned it or whatnot—that I wanted to have a night about town.

[DLN-000 to OXN-002] //: Still true, though gotta cover a few details before going anywhere with too many people…

There was another minute pause before response. Issimo’s observation skills were as sharp as ever, but he knew that this was no time - or place - to press.

[OXN-002 to DLN-000] //: If you’re alright with Black Lake, I can guarantee no-one would blink at any strange topics.

[OXN-002 to DLN-000] //: It’s mostly veterans these days, and they’ve got ‘minding their own business’ down to a science.

[OXN-002 to DLN-000] //: And if you’d like, I can show you more of the city while you’re here? It’s been...pretty quiet, lately.

[DCN-010 to DCN-00L] //: {Ray's resonation is...

[RMDC] //: -PING!- [ALERT! STATUS UPDATE DLN-010: ERROR X06: INCOMPATIBLE OR HAZARDOUS/CORRUPTED SOFTWARE DETECTED!]

“...” This was NOT ideal.

But.

He was winning.

Equinox’s nanite filled coolant glinted off of Enigma’s sword as Ray POUNCED on the Maverick, all sense of reason GONE from her eyes. That was the trade off of Berserker Mode--power in exchange for the ability to process nothing else but destruction.

At least the Destroyer focused her attacks more on the bigger threat.

“Ghn--!”

Another horrid, banshee-like SCREECH filled the air as Ray clawed away Equinox’s helmet.

He was grinning the entire time. He was due for another body anyway.

“Too little, too late, Nero--the damage is DONE--!”

An ugly sound followed after that.

Mavericks always had particularly gruesome deaths, no matter which timeline they came from. Even when Mavericks killed EACH OTHER, it was the same story. Ray was no different. She would have liked to rip the smile off of Equinox’s tattered remains had she still been in a sane state of mind to process such a thought.

Long chains of darkness bind the Destroyer back before she can savor her prize. She SCREAMED as she was dragged off of what was left of the OVER-10 by Enigma himself, who struggled quite considerably after that battle. It would do NEITHER of them any good if she had a chance to consume that chassis.

He had no choice.

[She drew herself up proudly.]

((LOOKIE HERE. Here’s a commission by a good friend, Torkie, and her RP partner, Mari’s AU Shadowman and Brandish! These two were a lot of fun to draw, and I’d love to draw them again sometime! 

In their story, Shadowman looks up to and admires Brandish, working to better himself under his Sensei’s watchful eye. It’s really endearing~ ♥ ^v^

The day was bright, warm, and cheery. One wouldn’t even know that the world was always poised in a constant state of conflict. But that suited her best. No need to worry about much other than if it the seeds that she sown were incubating well. The experiments have gone well so far, now they needed to see if they could grow and live without her inference...

Siam: Aheh…

Gemini: -Simultaneously- Oh, you don’t have to give me anything! I just saw them and thought you’d like them. They’re the colors associated with Weyard’s Jupiter Element, which encompasses electricity! They seemed fitting, somehow.

Siam: -Smiles, putting a hand on her shoulder- I’m happy that… we could help.

Gemini: You’ve been very kind to Siamini: me.

Siam: That means a lot, you know?

“They’re gorgeous, thank you!” She smiled brightly. “Purple is my favorite color, actually!” She wasn’t sure if it’d been mentioned before. 

And, of course, he’s going to get a big hug. “You’re my best friend, and I trust you with my life.” In reality, he was... really all she had left. Sure, she’d met most of his brothers, but she barely knew them. 

At any rate, she was so grateful to know she had someone she could go to. She wasn’t on her own, had someone she trusted. That alone helped her immensely. 

“By the way... I quit my job. So if you need help at any point, I’d be glad to do what I can.” Lark wasn’t quite sure what she wanted to do so she’d decided to do some soul-searching, trying to figure out where she belonged.
