Moving books...that's it? || Josh & Matt
Josh wasn't thrilled by the idea of community service, but he wasn't as opposed to it as other students seemed to be. When he heard the announcement, he'd shrugged, scribbled down his partner's name, and made a note to ask him what he wanted to do. He also made a point to ask around with faculty and staff to see what on-campus jobs wouldn't be so bad. It seemed like the school was getting some free grunt work but it gave Josh an excuse to miss football practice for a day and he'd always be grateful for that.
He'd texted Matt after getting his number from another junior and suggested they meet at the library for their service. The librarian, who always engaged Josh in random conversation when he had to check out a book, said that she needed help going through the library and finding a lot of missing books. She promised it wouldn't be a hard task and offered to close the library for an afternoon so they didn't have to work in silence. He'd explained it to Matt and thought it wasn't too bad of an idea and spoke with the librarian as he waited.
"Missing books?" he questioned curiously, wondering what she meant by it. The librarian explained that people take things out of the stacks and walk through the library before realizing they don't need it and then putting it on another shelf. Because of it, the library hasn't checked the book out but students looking for it can't find it in the proper stack. "So all we have to do is go around with this cart," Josh asked, tapping the metal book cart with his hand, "take out books that don't belong, and put them back after?" he asked to clarify. When she nodded, he shrugged. It didn't seem so bad. He wondered if his partner would agree.
