hey y’all!
since i graduate in the spring of 2020, can my american followers talk to me a little about the places they live? i’m looking to relocate after i graduate, but i’m really struggling to decided where i might want to move. i’ll be 21, and i’ll have a degree in english education that will enable me to be a high school teacher. i’m also open to other english-related jobs, such a publishing, or editing, or journalism. i’ve been researching for months now but would really like some personal accounts of what it’s like living in certain places.
what i’m really looking for in a place to live is:
- a lower cost of living (preferably, i’ll be renting for myself only, so like studios or 1 bedrooms)
- a good climate (i’m flexible on this one - i like 4 seasons, rainy summers, dry winters, moderate weather - the only thing i actively seek to avoid is heavy snow/ice winters, but even then, if i find i really like vermont or whatever, i’d still consider moving there)
- an active environment (i like hiking, outdoorsy stuff, going to museums and zoos and aquariums, libraries and historical sites)
- a more liberal-leaning population
some places i’ve been eyeing are the pacific northwest (but it’s so damn expensive), more southwest states like new mexico, or even southeastern like north carolina (but it’s more conservative there than i want).
as you can see, i’m all over the place and have no real idea what i want 😪
