Since I got here I have tried to hide my true nature,  I was scared of feeding, I was kink shamed for having a certain kink and I tried really hard to suit others needs and now I’m not happy, so if that’s what caring does then I want to stop caring.  When I was under the spell. I didn’t care about anything, I had no shame or embarrassment and I literally didn’t care. It felt great, but it wasnt me.” He let out a long breath. “ Caring makes you weak, it makes you vulnerable and shows your flaws which people can use against you, It's better to not get close or care about anyone,” Max said and then gave her a lopsided smile. “ Maybe I should just find a claim then I will have someone to care about me all the time.” He joked. “Feelings suck. Is there a way we could have them removed?”

 Max laid beside her and smiled. “ That’s not an answer Miss Mercer.  Just try and rest. You don’t have to sleep if you don’t want to. Just chill out here for a bit to charge your batteries. The business is doing really well right now, if you ever wanted to go into business law, I’m pretty sure you could make a really big name for yourself. You are talented. “ He said giving her a small nudge. “  Gatsby’s made a killing on New Year's eve for all the people that  didn't go to the party.” He stopped and looked at the ceiling. “I never wanna have to relive that again.” He admitted and rolled on to his front and put his head on the pillow. “ I couldn't control anything I said or did. I mean I would think one thing and another thing would come out my mouth. I would try to go home but end up doing things...” He stopped and looked at her. “   Was I an asshole to you?” He asked.

 Max was pacing his office. He did that whenever he was in a bind and needed to clear his thoughts, he wanted to get peace and didn't know how to achieve it. He was already avoiding some of the slaves and staff as he didn't want the memories to flood back into his mind.  The phone rang and he ignored it, who the hell would be calling him now. He lit a cigar and paced the room, he could smoke now, it wasn’t like he was going to die. He was already dead. One of the perks of being a vampire. Once the ringing stopped he walked over to his desk and looked at the last caller. Wondering what it could be about. When he saw it was  Libby, he hit the voicemail button and listened. At first, a smile fell across his face at the sound of how drunk she was. But then it was something in her words that caught him off guard, He could pass it off as drunken rambling but drunken people always tell the truth. He picked up the phone and pressed redial and waited for to answer
