portrait of a transfeminist, 2026
drew @mousidy
Mousidy, Missstrogen, and haze-of-absence all in a neat row right under your reblog, i think maybe yeah, you're a gaggle of pedophiles
how did you take my post about transmasc invisibility being positioned as an opposite counterpart to transfem "hypervisibility" as a denial of the concept of transmasc invisibility? I said the two should not be treated as opposing forces, not that one of them isn't a real problem
the positioning of transfem hypervisibility and transmasc invisibility as two opposing forces is so insidious and dangerous because it reinforces the status quo where trans men's voices are already valued over trans women's
#it feels like seeing wanted posters everywhere and hearing someone going "why dont IIII get a special pretty poster of my face? :("
i reread the post to make sure i didn't misinterpret it, and i don't feel that i did. i wasn't strictly responding only to you; i was responding to a general issue i've seen as a whole that i think is only compounded by this post, even if you clearly do not mean that.
i have frequently seen it claimed that transmasculine folks are not "invisible" at all precisely because trans women's issues are also swept under the rug unless it's to grotesquely hyperfixate on the violence trans women face.
It also assumes that we're actually getting space. It's like, we have wanted signs up so we don't get to have any other flyers up. No one sees our opinions, or takes, or love, or joy. They see ONLY that we're a big boogey man. Arguably, we're not hyper visible, we're hyper targeted. Every thing I've ever seen as Transmasc Invisibility, mostly applies to Trans Women too
and i do understand the frustration, again. i do. but i feel like i'm in the right for pointing out that despite you and the other people within the reblogs stating "well our issues are invisible often too!" (true), you're still making this an oppositional issue. especially by highlighting in your initial post how "trans men's voices are already valued over trans women's" in a specific post more or less decrying the invisibility issue to begin with due to how it also affects trans women, and how many trans men handle this very poorly.
how it ends up coming across is stating that trans men aren't invisible altogether. a large part of that is because of the broader conversation as a whole on the topic, and how this adds to it; as i said in my post, there have been many, many instances in which people have outright said that trans men are not invisible at all, etc.
and i understand this is not the intention, which is why i am trying to be clearer here. a better way i have found trying to navigate this issue is trying to educate everyone i can as a whole; hence that advice.
i also want to make it clear that i am not saying critique of others within and outside of the community/space/whatever and their behavior/how it hurts one another isn't okay. but given how things are right now, people are so sensitive that they're significantly more responsive (on both "sides") to just... Learning, than anything even remotely close to conflict.
so to summarize again: my response was to the broader conversation as a whole, not exclusively to your post. i'm sorry that wasn't clearer; there are absolutely points i responded to directly in your post, it also was something of a springboard for the whole issue altogether.
i apologize i wasn't clearer, and i do appreciate that you genuinely reached out to ask. thanks for that
ok why on earth did you leave tags saying "yeah man you get it" on my post. come on. I'm not a man
Oh! Sorry, ma'am, I didn't check your pronouns before reblogging. I don't make it a habit to check OP's blogs before I reblog from people. Iirc, I was just copying the tags from the person I reblogged it from (whose pronouns I don't recall either).
