I just mailed a package with some art pieces to be displayed as part of the Save the Reef project I’m working on! These will be going to the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium in Key West for their April presentation on coral restoration.Â
I have made two healthy sea fans, two dead sea fans, and two of sea hares (Stylocheilus striatus) for this presentation. The dead sea fans have white branches to represent coral bleaching and one (pictured above) has a large split down the middle. A boat anchor will be part of the art piece and it will have landed on this sea fan.Â
We have to work to protect our oceans, and I am so happy to be involved with an international fiber art community who are working to bring awareness about conservation!Â
