Happy Nurses Week - Day 2 I didn’t grow up always knowing I would be a nurse. In fact, I started as a Psychology major. I had a fantastic teacher in High School who steered me in that direction as she saw how curious I was about human behavior and interaction, and that I had a desire to help others. I was fortunate to land a student work assignment (as part of my financial aid package) in the UNF Wellness Center. That is where my passion for health and wellness began! I just happened to also be surrounded by nurses! One day in Western Civilization lecture, my dear friend Julie Hammond says to me, “I don’t want to study accounting.” I was intrigued. “Really?,” I answered. Followed by, “What do you want to study?” She answered, “Nursing.” I was thrilled with her suggestion...and was onboard, especially given my experience at the Wellness Center and working with fabulous nurse leaders whom I looked up to. That is how I landed in the Nursing program. As one of 40 who started the program, and one of 26 who graduated. We had amazing clinical experiences and fantastic instructors who pushed and stretched us to fully embrace what it is to become a Registered Nurse. I am forever grateful to these friends and colleagues, who cheered me on and kept me on course. Best decision ever!! #myexuberantlife #nursing #leadership #mosttrustedprofession https://www.instagram.com/p/BxKRKFrnJly/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=m15k08o52ioj
