they both did some pretty crummy things (understatement of the year), and the only difference is that we saw anakin as a little teeny child and then we saw him fall in love and then we saw him be manipulated by the dark side. 

the thing is, all of those things are true of kylo too, they’re just not shown on screen (apart from the falling in love thing, we don’t know and don’t really care about that). from what i’ve gathered from the novelization and random tidbits of word of god floating around, snoke has been whispering things in kylo’s mind for years before the boy finally up and turned against his uncle, maybe even since infancy?? thats pretty fucked up and imo a “””better””” motivation than just getting all hot and bothered about his grandpa of his own volition.

of course: “cool motive, still murder”. that’s true for anakin too. he straight up killed a bunch of toddlers with his own two hands. “cool motive, still murder”. and also i’m not trying to say that being a victim of some form of abuse makes it ok to be an abuser yourself. im just pointing out a double standard.
