hello everyone :-) !!!!

with this piece, i wanted to explore what i could do with colour. i really tried to push all my skills to their limits. i usually kind of just wing it and use some colour filters when needed, but instead i planned out the colour palette with a colour gamut mask and did a few studies of nighttime environments. it was more work, but much more rewarding: every single colour you see here was picked by hand!

this piece was a lot of fun to redraw! ^_^ i wanted to focus on a little more body language and physical dynamics this time around.

bdubs' movements became bigger and more exaggerated -- both because he's trying to act normal and because he's just a big actor in general. there's more panels with him and etho because of how often he turns to look at etho. he puts his hand on his chest, both to look sincere and to try and calm his pounding heart.

i also gave etho a different pose -- one that would make someone feel shorter as a way to tease bdubs. he shifts to something a little more defensive as the boogeyman is getting closer!

gosh, what an adventure! i'm really happy i got to participate in hermit-a-day may this year, it's my first time doing a big challenge like this and actually making it all the way through. it's also sort of my first time posting my art here! i've had a blast, and i'm so glad i get to end on one of my all-time favourite hermits.

now onto the actual art! i wanted to go big, end the month with a bang, and i decided on creating something that would pay homage to some of my favourite pokemon media of all time -- the pokemon adventures manga!

i ended up going pretty crazy with the halftones, which was a lot of fun :-) i did a lot of research, trying to figure out how i wanted to display the characters, before settling on a mix between mine and the official style.

i LOOOVED doing today's prompt!!! i went a little experimental with it -- i think i really succeeded in some areas. definitely going to do more studies but it was a fun exploration :-)

this was a really really fun week!!! thank you EVERYONE from the bottom of my heart for making this week so delightful. i met a bunch of new mutuals and got to practice drawing these FREAKS more.

everyone in this community is SO damn talented. you all should be really proud of what youve gotten done this week. whether it was art every single day or just a reblog to spread the love, you are so appreciated, truly :-)

okay, thats enough being sappy!! today’s piece i was focusing on posing. i had a couple of difficult angles to nail down, but i did pretty alright. i’m especially proud of both etho and bdubs’ hands, i think they came out great!

ohhh my goddd hand-picking all of the colours took ages. i'm glad i learned how to do it, but good lord does it take so much longer than a simple gradient map or overlay!

i watched Lost Boys fairly recently, and that influenced the little changes i made to bdubs' outfit, like his stupid little barbed wire earring!!! it's one of my favourite vampire movies :-P
