So âkemelpardelisâ is actually supposed to be: kÉËmÉlÉËpÉËrdÉláľťs which is the phonetic spelling of âcamelopardalisâ a constellation named after my favorite animal - giraffes!! Itâs perfect for me because I love giraffes and I love space! Best of both worlds ^_^

final morpholomeg update!
Didnât finish the Alison Weir because stuff happened. So far, itâs just making me aware that my knowledge of sixteenth century Scottish nobility/politics is seriously lacking. Like, if I see the name Rochester when Iâm reading about sixteenth century English politics, I immediately know thatâs George Boleyn, Viscount Rochester, related to the Howards (patriarch the Duke of Norfolk). If I see Châtellerault, on the other hand, I will have no clue that thatâs the Duke of Châtellerault, formerly the Earl of Arran, James Hamilton. Hopefully itâll come more naturally by the end of the book!
Did finish Louise O'Neillâs other book, Asking For It. Brilliant, but massive trigger warnings for rape and rape culture, immensely hard hitting, donât read it just before going to sleep.
Overall, I think NotSoNaBooReaMo has been really good for me. My library account has certainly had a workout, which I hope to keep up into 2016. I went through a bit of a phase of not reading any books after I left university, completely worn out. Itâs been really nice to get back into reading, and into sharing book recommendations with people. :)

Back to Neil Gaiman, and American Gods. A fascinating look at the character of the USA (although as far more of an outsider than Gaiman himself, I am certainly not the best judge) and at the notions of faith and worship over the last few centuries as well as here in the twenty first. Itâs⌠I wouldnât say itâs a brave book, but no one could accuse it of cowardice. Itâs bald, blunt, unshrinking, and yet nuanced.
Favourite passage (non-spoilery):
No man, proclaimed Donne, is an Island, and he was wrong. If we were not islands, we would be lost, drowned in each otherâs tragedies. We are insulated (a word that means, literally, remember, made into an island) from the tragedy of others, by our island nature, and by the repetitive shape and form of the stories. We know the shape, and the shape does not change. There was a human being who was born, lived, and then, by some means or other, died. There. You may fill in the details from your own experience.
Look up those pages, even if you havenât the opportunity to read the whole book. Itâs around halfway in, page 345 in my copy, the section entitled Coming to America, subtitled 1778.
