I’m mostly afraid to lose diversity. Moffat’s come to emphasize the importance of representation more and more over time, and I don’t want the show to have to go back for him to learn that again. Particularly not another white man Doctor, much as I’ve loved all of them it’s really time to open up to more possibilities.

Aside from that, I’ll just be sad to lose the way Moffat tells stories, because that hits a uniquely strong note with me. I’ll be okay watching whatever he does next while enjoying whatever Chibnall does, though.

As you probably know, Femslash February is an annual, multifandom challenge to create fanworks of any kind, featuring F/F ships, and now it’s almost here again! The original challenge was to, during the month of February, create at least two (2) femslash fanworks. We’re talking any type of fanworks, any fandom, any female characters.

So let’s go nuts! Let’s do this! Let’s show the women of the show we love some love! In the days leading up to February I’m going to post a few ideas, prompts, etc to inspire you if you’re feeling stuck. It’s just for inspiration though, and if they don’t fit you, don’t worry, because the original challenge stands:

1 month, 2 fanworks.

Oh, don’t worry, Irene! It’s easy. All you have to do, really, is to create something for a femslash ship and you’re participating.

Femslash February is a very basic, simple challenge. It started in 2013 on Tumblr with the call to create at least two femslash fanworks during the months of February. Any type of fanwork. (source) It can be any fandom and any pairing, no reason to limit yourself! (Though maybe stay away from rule 63, and let the lovely women take all the space!) Through the years, different versions of the challenge have been presented -- prompts, collaborations, bingo cards, big bangs, and so on -- but always with the main goal of creating more femslash. 

Femslash February isn’t a challenge you enter into, it’s a challenge you do yourself, so if you only find the time to create one thing that’s totally fine and legit as participating in Femslash February. Because you did the thing!

If you really want to create something, but feel a bit lacking on the inspiration side of things I’ve created a Word Prompt List for each day of February. Feel free to use it however you please. Want to create something for each word linked to your favourite ship? Awesome! Want to just pick just a handful of words? Go ahead! Want to mix it up with different ship each day? Wonderful! Let the list inspire you, not limit you.

I’ve also put together a mini-challenge or general prompt for each week of February, but please don’t feel limited by the prompts or challenges. The main goal is to shine light on and create more femslash, the prompts are just there to help and motivate.

Week 1: Going away. Pack the bags! It’s time to go on a romantic vacation to sunny Greece or snowy Chamonix. Or maybe a business trip with a random meeting in a crowded airport? Who knows? The world is bigger than London.

Week 2: Sports and Games. Are they all on the same Roller Derby team? Football team? Are there poker nights? Who comes home all sweaty and glowing from a workout, and who really, really likes that? Or just… imagine them wearing tennis gear.

Week 3:  Be inspired! Create something that is inspired by someone else’s work. Podcast your favourite fic, write a fic to a graphic or a gifset or a fanart, draw something, make a graphic or a gifset based on a fic. Or how about putting together a fanmix? (As a bonus you’ll also make another fan happy!)

Week 4: Favourite trope. What’s your favourite trope? First time? Friends-to-lovers? Sleeping together to stay warm? Fake dating? Sex pollen? Arranged marriage? Amnesia? Mutual pining? Use it! Share it! They are our favourites for a reason.

Again, please let these (and the word prompt list) be inspiring and motivating, not limiting. All contributions are welcomed and encouraged!
