Mori-Kei
So recently, thanks to some pics i saw on my dash yesterday, I've discovered a new (well new to me) fashion called Mori-Kei or Natural-kei. Basically means Forest or Forest girl.
And, I really like it. I've been trying to find some research on it, and even tho there's these "rules" it still seems not so complicated as Lolita fashion.
Lately, it just seems Lolita has gotten so complicated and so over the top. I like it, because it's cute, frilly, and modest. but it seems so over the top for me. I've known about Lolita fashion for yeaarrss now, and maybe it's just me but it seems to be more excessive lately.
Not only that, but I'm kinda iffy at the community. I'm tired of all these "brand whores" and these silly redundant arguments I see pop up on my dash from a few lolita blogs I follow. Why can't we all just sit around, wearing frilly dresses, drinking tea, and not worry about such trivial matters.
That's why, I think I'm starting to like Mori Style. It seems more simple, it seems like maybe no one would jump down my throat if I don't follow every single rule. It seems easier and cheaper as well. Like i could buy my outfits at thrift stores, and it would be ok. I wouldn't have anyone looking down upon me because I didn't buy a 600$ couture brand dress or something. I think the lifestyle is nice, taking time in life to enjoy the simple things.
Drinking tea, reading books, liking cute things, soft pastel colors. I was reading the rules (though seem more like guidelines, or checkpoints to give you an idea of what Mori is) and most of those things already fit me.
Not only that, but it seems like a style anyone of any age could wear. I could wear this stuff at my current age (27) but I could still wear it when im an old lady (not saying its old lady fashion, but since it seems to focus more on vintage, looser, clothing it would be more fitting then idk a lolita dress) It has a sort of timeless look to it.
Anyway, I still love Lolita fashion, but I think it would be nice to branch out to other styles, maybe I'll get motivated and new fresh ideas to sew again.
