A Letter to Morgie-Bear on April 17th 2012:
Darling Morgan, I love you so much! You are the best puppy in the whole wide world, you're my Bubby, my muse; a super hero, an architect, the Butterfly Princess and the Kidney Bean Queen! Oy Vey, You gave me such a scare today. You were hemorrhaging blood and expelling your insides. All day in the testing hall I thought of how I can't afford to lose you. I re-lived the entire experience of what happened with duchess and anticipated hopelessly. I prayed so much for you today, Morgie. I imagined the pieta pose or you not being here at all when I got home. When I opened the door, I saw you- I dropped everything to fuss over you, as it should be. You nudged into me affectionately as you always do and I just broke down into sobbing on the floor, hugging you. You were confused and shocked by this, but you stayed with me. I thought you were a goner- I truly did! I called mama, crying. You let me pet your stomach, you're usually reluctant... After a while, I thanked her for letting me have you, I thank her daily. I walked with you- the sun shone brightly and it was beautiful for the first time since this morning. Joe asked if you were feeling better- people truly care about you, dear! A butterfly nearly landed on your nose and I knew you were alright by how vivaciously you pursued that squirrel. I promise never to put off walking with you even in the dead of winter, I promise forevermore not to get upset with you for barking and being mad with other dogs. I'm sorry that other dogs are afraid of you, but honestly You're worth the whole damn bunch put together. In the elevator a neighbor repeated "You're such a good dog!" She's right- it's as if she knew! You've hunkered yourself down by my side and life is good again! I know that this may be fleeting, some day you'll die and someday I'll die, but I'm glad that today isn't the day. I just want you to know that I love you, Morgan. I love you so much! - Your Sister. <3
