Singles Volume 1 - Uncanny Tales to The Slow Cyclone by Soft Hearted Scientists
Gave this a spin today because Bandcamp, not only because I love the cactus album cover, but because I kept seeing it pass my eyes as I start to purchase music for my modified iPod. I usually go into each song and give it a rating and how I feel about it. But, this specific album of singles is hard to rate like that because it’s not a complete thought from the artist as a album but more of a sample size of their best music. I really love their defined and dialed in sound because all the music is well recorded, well arranged and has a certain flow where the trip through the song brings you this calming euphoria. I genuinely would love to go back and hear another record of theirs because I assume their B-Side material is exciting.
Overall: are a beautiful combination of a lot of my favorite music and sounds. An organized sound followed by amazing lyricism and story telling.
Tracks that stood out to me: Seaside Sid and the GIANT SQUID and Seeing
Comparisons: Morgan Delt, Early Pink Floyd (Animals), King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard (Gumboot Soup), The Beatles (B-Sides, Sgt. Peppers and Yellow Submarine) and Ween - HAIL THE BOOGNISH (The Mollusk)
