Congrats on the followers! :D how about something with Kreider and a much needed summer vacation?
Chris has been wanting to do something different for summer vacation for a long time now
You honestly have no idea what that means, but agree without giving it much thought
Turns out different is the two of you signing up for a post-grad class to do an archaeological dig in South America
As much as you want to object, you know that he wouldn’t have suggested it unless he really wanted to do it
Besides, he’s always had a lifelong affair with learning so you can’t say that you’re too surprised with the suggestion
Chris considered going through UMass Boston but fuck UMass
Instead, the two of you end up going through Trent University since it looks like there will be more time to explore on top of all the learning
You knew that doing field work in Belize was going to be hard work, but by the end of every day, you feel like you’ve soaked through your clothes
Chris likes to tease you, but it’s not like he’s any better
It’s fun though, especially getting to know the other students who are doing the field school
On the weekends, you join the professors and a couple other students on the supply runs into Orange Walk Town to explore the area a little more
The food is absolutely amazing, and you’re hoping to find something similar once you’re back in New York
Sundays are reserved for swimming in the lagoon, and lazily hanging on the shores
Halfway through the field school, there’s a three-day weekend where you and Chris have the chance to take the water taxi into Belize
You both try to make the most of your time there, going to the zoo, hiking, and checking out all the local places
The days pass quickly, and then your headed back to the field school
The last two weeks pass just as fast, and before you know it, you and Chris are headed back to New York
One of the first things you do on getting back to his apartment is take a long shower
Even though this wasn’t the summer vacation you were originally hoping for, you still had an amazing time
Seeing Chris’ enthusiasm for learning first hand made you fall even more in love with him
He’s already talking about trying to do a field school in Europe next year, which just makes you roll your eyes
But you won’t deny that the thought of doing it all again doesn’t sound like a bad idea
