Today is #420 day and in #ny it’s the first time it’s both medically legal and recreationally legal. I first tried #cannabis when I was diagnosed to be dead within the next six months. It was 2011. I healed and am as healthy as I currently am ten years later because of this miracle plant. I went from grand mail seizures daily and bedridden unable to walk or talk. I had lost my memories and quality of life. Now I’m about to be 37. My brain is healed my memories restored, I walk and can talk again. I only get tremors occasionally now. My ptsd and severe anxiety is managed and in a health place. I’ve been fighting for this day since I was saved by this plant ten years ago. It might not be all states legal as I wish it was yet but oh I am so truly grateful for the progress. I am proof thc/weed heals. I went from sick and bedridden to writing seven books so far two feature horror films and so much more than I ever thought I’d accomplish. Happy 420 day. Reason #5 to #VoteNo on the #MoreAct. The Retroactivity language is too narrow. Currently the bill applies to any #offense “committed” in #criminal #proceedings. It should be broadened to convictions where #Cannabis was the basis for the search which led to other charges (w/ some exceptions e.g. violent crimes). And not just criminal matters. #ChildCustody #PublicHousing #WelfareBenefits...If your #Rights or #Privileges were taken bc of Cannabis those rights must be restored too! Reason 4 The #MoreAct does not include any #Community #input or #oversight provisions for how monies are allocated to #restore damages caused by the#WarOnCannabis. No hearings! No studies! No Requests for Information! No #AdvisoryCouncils! No Community #Oversight! The #MoreAct gives all discretion to governmental agencies to dictate funding directives. Reason #3. The #MoreAct creates inherent #conflictsofinterest by empowering the #US #DoJ to administer #Cannabis #legalization. For 50 yrs the #DEA, a DOJ division, enforced the unfair #Cannabis laws. American citizens have claims for injuries suffered by the DoJ. The DoJ will be the subject of investigation & can’t fairly investigate itself. #TruthPanels, investigations, damage assessments, and #restorative measures should be done by a separate agency interested solely in administering proper redress to those impacted. Reason#2: The #MoreAct does NOT require the #US #Government to assess damages or #fund #restorative #measures for its role in #Cannabis #Prohibition. The #WarOnCannabis was a #racially #motivated #hatecrime against targeted groups. The legislation should require #Expert #Economists to assess #damages then mandate a repayment plan. The MOREAct creates a #Community #Trust #Fund to be funded solely from #cannabis taxes. It doesn’t require the #US to contribute to rebuild communities unfairly harmed.
