I feel like my continued hatred of Suzaku and Euphy in Code Geass is a reaffirmation of how I've matured over the last few years. Belief and trust in the system is useless when that system is monitored by human sensibilities and emotions.
Somewhat ironically, I don't always hate this though. A similar theme is present in psycho-pass. I think the difference is that the system is abstracted from humanity and is already considered all powerful (regardless of how complicated/unfair you see it is throughout the series).
Suzaku and Euphy stand upon nothing but their ideals. And they have the privilege to do so because they are a part of the ruling party. In psycho-pass, Akane believes in the Sibyl system because there is already a peace to protect. She stands for that.
I do think the series validates Suzaku a bit by the end. Obviously the characters are not so straightforward. I think that's part of what makes Code Geass so appealing. It's not black and white. And by the end, I think I come to appreciate Suzaku as a character. But he can be super annoying sometimes!
