So, I recently discovered that the term used to describe the hurt/ comfort trope sern in fanfiction and media is called "whump." Well, after browsing tumblr for a while, I finally had the gumption to start a new series of my own. The series I will start with is a Legend of the Seeker/ Sword of Truth fanfiction, shipping Cara and Kahlan. Obviously the original story is not my own. I thought of the idea for this from one of the episodes on the show.
Legend of the Seeker
Kahlan and Cara pt 1.
Cara walked a few feet ahead, pausing to wait for Kahlan. Something was up. Normally, she matched her stride. A few moments later, Kahlan finally met up with Cara. Cara spoke, "What's the matter? Do you need to rest?"
"I'm fine. If you need to rest just say so.", Replied Kahlan.
Cara smirked. "Alright, I need to rest."
Kahlan smiled as if relieved. "Good, because my feet hurt."
Her breathing sounded labored, and she leaned against a tree. She adjusted her weight, taking the wait off of her left leg. Cara looked at her, puzzled. "I think it is more than your feet that hurt. Do you honestly think you can hide pain from a mord'sith?"
Kahlan glared at her. "I told you... I'm fine..."
Cara smirked..."Right, then let's keep moving."
She began walking at a moderate pace.
Kahlan groaned as she struggled to keep up with Cara, she almost had it but then her leg gave out from under her. Kahlan swore under her breath, holding her leg, she lifted her dress, and cursed quietly but loud enough for Cara to hear. Cara turned and walked back towards her, kneeling at her side. "Never try and hide pain from a Mord'sith. There is a reason why some call us maidens of pain. Now, show me." She said in a commanding voice.
Kahlan reluctantly lifted her dress revieling a festering wound. Cara sighed. "How long have you been hiding this?"
Kahlan gritted her teeth, applying pressure to her wound. "It was three days ago... when we were attacked. I didnt say anything so I wouldnt slow us down..."
Cara shook her head. "It's infected. If not treated, you will be dead in the next day or two. Then who will be around to protect your precious Seeker?"
Kahlan groaned in frustration and pain. "What do you propose?"
Cara smirked. "It will need to be burned closed,it will kill any infection and staunch any bleeding."
Kahlan winced hearing the woman's icy words. "But we can't make a fire, they will find us."
Cara laughed maliciously, "Who said anything about a fire?"
She drew her agiel, her face beaming with satisfaction, and almost a look of excitement. "It will hurt."
Kahlan sighed. "I know, I have felt an agiel before."
Cara was almost grinning. "Ha! Not like this you haven't."
Without warning she applied the agiel to the open wound while smiling, almost beaming upon knowing that her companion would be in pain. She knew this would likely be the only time she would be allowed to touch the Mother Confessor in this manner, and she was enjoying every second of it. Kahlan held back her tears of pain, knowing it was what Cara wanted. She wanted to show her that she was tough. Beads of sweat formed at her brow from fatigue, fever, tension, and pain. A few moments later, Cara was finished. Happy with herself, she resheathed her agiel. "I'm impressed... you did well. Even the strongest mord'sith would have fainted."
Kahlan smiled weakly, nodding before her skin blanched and she toppled over unconscious.
"Kahlan!?" Asked Cara.
