SO  MUCH  HAD  CHANGED  SINCE  THE  DAY  HE  LEFT .  people ,  this  whole  city  where  they  used  to  grow  up ,  where  they  played  out  in  the  woods ,  themselves .  NOTHING  WAS  THE  SAME  AS  IT  ONCE  WAS ,  yet  memories  lingered  between  former  friends  like  ghosts  haunting  lost  souls .  probably  it  was  amelias  stubborn  nature  to  still  believe  that  some  parts  of  bruce  were  left ,  some  characteristics  of  the  boy  she  cared  so  much  about .  probably  it  was  her  own  wishful  thinking  that  gotham  could  become  a  place  worth  living  at  again ,  that  THE  ODDS  COULD  CHANGE  and  happenings  being  taken  back .  could  they  ever  be  as  close ,  as  trusting ,  as  loyal  ?  ?  doe  eyes  wandering  from  the  manors  gardens  to  suited  man ,  resting  upon  him  for  a  few  moments .  IT  HURT  SEEING  HIM  LIKE  THIS ,  knowing  that  he  still  owned  facial  features  she  knew  so  well ,  yet  a  gaze  that  was  closed  off ,  distant  as  she  was  but  another  stranger  on  his  guest  list .   ❛   maybe  you  don ‘ t  need  to  be  . ❜  ,  red  lips  whispered  as  glass  of  champagne  was  held  with  tight  grip .  what  was  even  the  point  in  being  here  ?  ?  leaving  heartbroken ,  making  sure  that  he  did  not  care  anymore  ?  ?  HOPING  THAT  HE  STILL  DID  ?  ?   ❛   maybe  who  you  are  now  is  enough .  ❜   to  her  it  would  be ,  despite  there  was  no  need  to  admit  such  nullities .

jane observes the damage. naturally her car was way worse off, the incredibly fancy car she had bumped into suffered a mere slight, single dent. ❛ i’ll pay for that. ❜ she fumbles with her coat pockets, wondering if her pen lingered about. ( it’s sticking out of her hair where she had left it earlier )  ❛ do you take payment plans? ❜ it’s a joke ... but also she’s kind of hoping he says yes considering what her crash victim was driving around in.
