Thinking about raspy crickets and my cabagu, if u can see where I'm going w that...

I love bugs that spin silk. I especially like bugs that SPIT silk. I've been thinking about Cabagan children... What if like, early Cabagan ancestors spun silk to make they homes underground better, and eventually started feeding it to their infants? I dunno haha. Kings would make it though, that I know, since they're the primary caretakers of children in Cabagan society.

Anyway I've also been thinking about Cabagu reproduction... I think Kings rather than fertilizing eggs actually just deposit them uh. In the queen. And the queen fertilizes them internally. Also it's been a well established fact in my mind basically since that I made them that Cabagan genitals are BRIGHT FUCKING BLUE. That shade of blue is the "sexy color" the same way red is for humans. Anyway you're really not supposed to publicly display anything with that shade of blue haha

Anyway this thing is a colossal invertebrate, deep-sea, apex predator around the size of a blue whale.

Awhile ago I said I was redesigning cabagu clothes. Really I just spent some time thinking about it before putting it on the base I always use. This guy and a casual shirt, + some jewelry bc I just ... Like putting jewelry on them haha.

It crawls along the sea floor like a seaslug. They can swim a little, but it's more like... You don't see it often. Like a scallop. Did you know scallops can swim. They swim like long stingrays!

The carnivorous ones envelop slow moving prey (like clam/mussel/snail-analogs) or already dead animals under their bodies then slime it like a hagfish, which keeps it from escaping and also digests/softens it before the stomach, and then it ejects its stomach out of its "mouth" like a starfish and eats it. It can also use its goo as a self defense mechanism... Again like a hagfish.

The herbivorous ones have evolved their acid goop and stomach to be together, so they crawl along plants very slowly with their stomach out and slowly dissolve the leaves or stems.

They don't have eyes, but some like this one have eyespots to deter predation.

After mating, adult females will find a good place to anchor their bodies, like a blade of grass, and then proceed to chew off and eat their wings and not move for 2 weeks until their young, which grow on the end of their tail in a little puffball of insects like dandelion seeds, are old enough to detach and float away. The mother dies once the majority of the young fly off.

Once the juveniles are off their mother's tail they subsist on blood of other creatures, growing until adulthood when they mate.

Right before their final growth cycle they bury themselves underground and wait until the right season, where they all emerge at once. The males mate as many times as they can before dying, and the females release their young, repeating the cycle.
