Clearly there is an evolution in pop up at usage for the word "facial".
Fangs Fogarty is the one that comes from the Skunk Hill of Montana's youth now. It is somewhat curious Moose is just a nice guy in the creation of Bob Bolling -- carried on to Dexter Taylor here -- and they inserted Fangs Fogarty for any rough stuff -- it is as though they split Moose's personality up into two characters -- Jekyl and Hyde.
"A boy's best friend is his mother." Also note 1949's reference to "Veronica" versus the later "Betty and Veronica". (And who is Archie, the Dexter Taylor Little version moreso than Bob Bolling in shadowing the main line characters, kidding?)
At the point in the story the sequences are off a panel. But you can fill in the panel proceeding the first one -- with that one it is Mr. Westherbee telling her she needs to get her grades up. I guess Hooky Hogan is walking off in the background -- playing hooky as he always did. And we see Betty do a photo-bomb.
I am a little puzzled by why Jughead would come in a disguise that is wearing his trademark identifiable hat.
Now things line up.
After here the two narratives diverge. We actually do not see the next sequence in the first -- just the result. The second one has a page plus sequence with Jughead tripping over his big costume and stilts that Penny gave him and falling on top of Fangs. So the difference is who ends up beaten up. Maybe we can no longer run something where it is just the bully physically assaulting the bullied.
