The Moonvill train tunnel.
The tunnel was built in the 1850βs near the town of Moonvill a very remote coal mining town believed to be named after a store clerk. The line was part of the StLouis-Washington DC run. The track was known as the loneliest 8 miles on the line.
Several ppl died in the tunnel and two nearby trestles. The legend of four ghosts the Engineer the Breakman the Lavender Lady and the Bully are local lore.
The line was officially abandoned and the rails pulled up in 1988.
