“We have to stop her!” Mariang Makiling cried out. “If she absorbs the rays of dawn, she could break the universe in her light!”
“Correct,” said a voice they didn’t recognize. The Guardians saw a black snake with wings flying towards them. Riding on its back was Letlet.
“...The Bakunawa?” Ikapati said, astonished.
“In the flesh, although obviously not at full strength. No universe means nothing to eat, and I can’t have that.”
“She went to my town. We need to stop her, and I think I know how,” she said resolutely.
The earth shook with every step Hanan took. She was wading through the ocean, approaching the town.
The townspeople saw her in the distance, and began to panic.
“It’s the end of the world!” one of them shouted.
In a way, they were correct. But things weren’t over yet.
On a cliff overlooking the town, the remaining Guardians, Letlet and the Bakunawa quickly formulated a plan.
“Will this really work? Oh, if it doesn’t...” Lidagat asked, despairing.
“You have my assurance that my part will go off without a hitch,” the Bakunawa replied.
“Well then, let’s get to work,” Mariang Kakaw said, taking out seeds from her sack. She planted them in the ground.
Ikapati passed her hands over them, and a coffee plant sprouted instantly from the ground - she was using her dominion over plants to accelerate their growth. Mariang Kakaw snatched the beans and put them into a cup. The cup began to glow, and in the beans’ place was hot coffee. She passed the cup to Lihangin, who drank it.
“Nothing like your special coffee, eh Kakaw?”
Lihangin zipped through the air, flying faster and faster. It seemed the coffee had given him additional energy. Letlet saw him fly towards Hanan.
Having gone ahead of Lihangin were Oryol and Mariang Sinukuan, who were each flying in front of Hanan’s eyes.
“Submit to my gaze, Hanan~” said Oryol, her eyes alternating colors between yellow, pink and purple. She was using her hypnotic power at full blast.
Meanwhile, Mariang Sinukuan was shining her eyes as brightly as she could, as if to blind Hanan. Both were doing what they could to stall her.
Near the cliff where they were, Letlet saw dark clouds gather. Thunder crackled and a massive downpour erupted. Anitan Tabu was chuckling to herself, hands raised in that direction. She had summoned her most powerful storm.
Lidagat cleared her throat, and began to sing. The waves came alive, and began to rise until they formed a tsunami. The tsunami headed towards Hanan and knocked her off her feet.
“Now, Magwayen!” shouted Mariang Makiling.
Magwayen turned her flaming lotus staff into a spear, and threw it at Hanan, piercing her chest. Mapulon flew over, and with his guitar, played a tune that made Letlet’s eyelids heavy despite the pounding in her chest. His song was to make Hanan lose consciousness.
Hanan stopped moving. The Bakunawa then flapped its leathery wings and flew over, biting into Hanan’s leg. She grew smaller and smaller, until finally all that was left were Mayari and Tala.
The Bakunawa’s deep voice rang inside Letlet’s head - it was sending a telepathic message. “I shall take my leave now, if you don’t mind. Pleasure working with you Guardians.”
It then flew up into the quickly brightening sky.
