Lord Sesshōmaru in feudal Japan, for a long lived Daiyōkai 'dates' aren't really a thing. He better understands the concept of a marital arrangement as he is demonic aristocracy.
The way we think about a date now— a very conscious and mutual choice that usually has an activity for bonding— does not cross his mind. His priorties are strength and survival. He is not thinking about romantic partnerships. He views the world through a war table.
He also has little interest in mortal activities, and in general, his demon psych does not require fun like a human's.
I have to be the one to really formalize the concept of a 'date' to my super self satisfied loner ice king. To say, "Hey, you know that there is value in this. If you can understand a bond between comrades on a battlefield, then you can understand a bond developing while we watch the stars together."
Going on a date is not for him. It's for me.
Maru's ideal date is something we can do where he can observe me ♡ He can stomach any activity if it makes me happy because he has few preferences— however, after he understands a little bit more about courtship and its value, I imagine something like this would happen:
"You once expressed this era's night sky is different to the one you know. Let me provide a view no mortal could."
