Grin grows as the others frame comes into view standing from the table in the dark bar once they are close enough to register him. Wiping hands on jeans before he’s reach out for a hug, “Hey, been a long time.” Tone warm as his affection for them can almost be heard in voice, “Not sure if you saw the text but Thea bailed, something about work-” Eyes rolled dramatically, “You know her. Hope you’re okay with just me?”

“You really need to start locking your front door,” Jamal called as he entered his best friend’s house without even bothering to knock. They’d been best friends since they were kids, it was typical for them to act like they owned each other’s places. He was grinning as he placed a few take out containers on her kitchen table, hoping that she had heard him enter. “Any idiot could just wander in here.” He was teasing, of course, but he couldn’t help but poke fun at her.

“Wesley?” Cameron called in surprise, staring at the person who had just walked by her like she’d seen a ghost. She froze where she stood, turning slowly to see if the person she’d just seen would respond to the name. Perhaps she was wrong, but she could have sworn it was him. Her ex, the one she’d had to break up with when she moved away from their town. The only ex she ever had that made her think that breaking up with him might have been a mistake. 

Dustin knew what he was doing was a dick move. He had liked them for years and he knew they felt the same but it wasn’t until now when they showed up for the summer vacation looking more mature than he ever expected that he found himself starting to give into his emotions. He usually tried to keep his feelings to himself knowing his brother was her best friend and that the drama involved could make this more complicated than he wanted. But here he was having a late night swim and having them join him, the male unable to not move closer to them. “You know, you really look incredible.”

This was never something Rae had expected, she had been sleeping over at her best friends house and like always they had passed out whilst she was still wide awake. Figuring a good way to distract her incredibly single self was to go on Tinder like she did every month to see if anyone catches her eye. Whilst swiping left and right she found herself freezing for a moment as she saw the familiar face of her best friend’s brother. Before she even processed it her finger instinctively moved right and to her surprise they matched.  She felt her heart race, her body temp rising rapidly. Rae quietly yet quick put her phone away and decided to head down tot he kitchen, needing to cool herself down and hopefully make herself forget what had just happened.

“you’re little one is doing really well in my class” they smile at the other, “they were one of the only ones to not burn their cupcakes” lennon laughs a little, “have you guys been practising at home?”. 

Although she knew her partner wasn’t there she prayed someone else was, so she could at least have some shelter and a phone to call an Uber to come get her given her phone was now water logged “Come on, please,” she mumbled to herself, pressing the bell once more.
