I am dying, please send anything that might end this torment
-Moongleam đ, who managed to get sick the first day of having been here. I sincerely hope you're much better off. Also please yap at me about the Iron Lung AU, or anything really, because I really love your OCs and AUs and stories
Rambles at you then
Alright! Iâll ramble about a new character today and some mentions of a crack-au that I made for some reason idk why
Before I start I just want to say that all my characters get used as sonas in one way shape or form
I just cut myself into pieces and say âlmao u would make a good monsterâ then either make a new character or take an already made oc of mine and shove it in the trauma or something machine, so if it seems like all of my characters are me in a way itâs because they are bc I donât trust myself to write smth I canât understand with their decisions.
To start out, the concept of this character can get really confusing at points due to how I created it, and itâs loosely like the âGood Peopleâ from pressure despite it not being based off of that.
The corpse started out as a parasite in early homo genus, using the human host to have a base line of cells for the main âbrainâ to rapidly reproduce the cells for the simple goal of living and spreading.
The main brain is barebones sapient, take crows of dolphins for example. A level of intelligence but something innately not sapient in our brains. While it seems like it is, our brains fire off warning signals that it isnât.
Though, the main brain only evolved that level of intelligence after humans evolved, even then it wasnât as intelligent as it is when the main part of their lore takes place
Weâll get to that part but first I need to explain in detail how this thing works, itâs pretty complicated and 50/50 real-ish ideas that could exist and 50/50 my own crazy ideas because well youâll see later
The corpse causes rapid generation of new cells to infect new hosts, the simple problem is it cannot reproduce itself. There is only one corpse parasite ever, even if multiple hosts have been infected by once the main brain is only in one and the rest will simply rot away at some point or possible be added to a âmassâ
A âmassâ is a collection of organic materials (mostly from animals, plant life is rare to see in the mass, very rare) this collection is incase of failure to rapidly produce certain cells in time, for example bone cells take longer to replicate compared to flesh and muscles cells so if the corpse is in a situation that could potentially harm the main host, cells from previous victims could serve as defense or weapons instead of getting new ones (ofc a more magic-ish part of this, hence it being an SCP concept I made some time ago and only just recently redid to make into my new character âCorpse/Doctorâ)
They will often infiltrate certain human groups (or animals as they can infect animals but they tend to infect humans more often and âpreferâ them) and add the corpses to the mass as long as the host is in a state that they can work with.
If the host is too damaged they will use one of the humans or animals in the group as their new host. They transfer from hosts via contact with an open wound, and often youâll find them taking out a chunk of the old host and shoving it into the new one to guarantee the main brain connects.
The bodies of previous hosts turn into masses of a âvoid-like substanceâ that replaces ATLEAST 50% of the hosts exterior body, even including clothes at times which are not added to the organic mass but hidden away in a pile near it for some reason. And at most 100% of the body and the clothes on it so- and the void mass is in the shape of the previous host down to the hair follicles just not atomic make up
So this doesnât happen with most hosts, but smt the corpse will entirely change a hosts appearance based on factors they find âprettyâ almost like how a bird collects shiny things for its nest, and this only really appears in detail in the main part of the story
The corpse, while quite deadly, only appeared in a few ancient murals of strange humans with an end you can guess from what Iâve said already, and appears as a unnamed, unknown bad omen in other cultures. Though, the corpse doesnât need to feed so much that they push humanity into near extinction, quite the opposite. They rarely feed and switch hosts, which allowed humanity to thrive as normal especially since there is only one corpse parasite alive.
This leads to how long it took for humanity to realize smth was out there hunting them, and only then it was the SCP foundation that had the most suspicion considering the stories from survivors of a group that the corpse feasted on. Eventually, after a large amount of casualties and chaos among the MTFs sent out to capture it due to it switching hosts to an mtf and killing from within the group before they were noticed, the corpse was contained.
Ofcourse, as one of the head containment researchers, Dr Rey was a large part in containing the corpse, and therefore inevitably gained the parasiteâs attention.
The host they were stuck in was a detoriating MTF, and that led to the containment breach a few years later when the corpse had their first fail at rapid cell cloning, and used the stored mass to break out of containment instead, which the foundation hadnât planned for because they didnât even know that it had a backup mass.
The corpse was held in its own quite large site due to its abilities, so when the breach happened it was still stuck inside its own site unable to get out, but it did get outside of its containment cell
If you guessed it when I mentioned Dr Rey, you are correct, their next host was our lovely totally sane researcher that was one of the heads of containment.
Tho, Dr Reyâs previous lore stays and that means glorified lobotomy still exists, and well glorified lobotomy isnât to fond of the parasite attempting to take over.
After a good several years (they narrator means decades, not years but it just sounds more believable) our favorite researcher is back in control, now with the added âbenefitsâ of mostly being a void mass, able to change their appearance at will but pretty much entirely unable to look human again, and pretty much insane
(At this point they will either be referred to as Corpse (not âTHE corpseâ) or as âDoctorâ)
At TIMES most of the time they actually are just not-there mentally
like 60% âI donât exist my consciousness isnt realâ
30% âim your very traumatized scientist that still has all their quirks I used to be human i swear im not the parasite my glorified lobotomy killed and forced me to takeoverâ
and 10% âDie die die die die die die die die die or else you will be stuck here like me you little fuck die die die die die-â but more uhm poetic and yeah thatâs the word.
There isnât much more beyond their character than that, I smt just throw them at the sea fam (or the CKT-) in my head and kick my feet at how funny the chaos is at times and how giggle at CKT- finding a creature almost the same thing as the parasite they have yet somehow more sane
But after I got my headless ether and make an eclipse skin with it I made a funny crack-au where SEA Eclipse gets to be the more powerful and fear inducing one (heavily based on phasmophobia) and smh the Corpse snuck their way in where they gained the nickname âDoctorâ that Headless Clipse called them meanwhile everyone screaming at them and subconsciously wondering what he meant by âDoctorâ as they chat and have theoretical tea together
Corpse/Doctor is often described as âan eldritch horror very much within comprehension but not articulationâ and they can change their appearance a lot (both on purpose and not on purpose) often not looking the same every time, but I do have a vague idea of how they kinda look like Iâm just not done drawing it
