here is a hard truth to swallow: it is easy to get alek into bed, but it is almost impossible to get him to stay. he is fresh out of the shower and there is a girl in his arms and she presses her mouth against his throat and whispers stay, stay, stay. she says: there’s a place down the street with the best pancakes. there are stars in her eyes when she looks at him and this is how he knows he cannot stay. he tells her he has a morning class tomorrow, although he leaves out the fact that he doesn’t intend on going anyway. she asks if she’ll see him again and he only kisses her, tells her that he’s had fun, and then he’s gone. but not home, not just yet. it turns out the place down the street with the best pancakes is open 24 hours and he gets some just so he can put off going back to college park; by the time the pancakes are done he knows where he’s going to go next.
