Your Shot photographer Matt Trivett photographed this moonbow or lunar rainbow in June of 2018. These rare phenomena occur when light from the moon reflects and refracts off the water droplets in the atmosphere. He writes, "I had never seen a rainbow formed by moon light until this moment. My friends and I were high up in the mountains one afternoon, and we got caught in a storm, so we pitched our tents to wait and let it blow through. Finally when it had passed, we walked out around 1am to the overlook, and this is what was left for us on the other side of the storm." Photograph by Matt Trivett
