restless attention (or: a thought appears)
[Q] My attention keeps going back to the belief that I am the person living this life.
[Mooji] It's okay. You're beyond that, you already know you aren't any of that, so don't keep acknowledging thoughts that say this is You. Let them appear and dissolve.
If you slow down, you notice that you can watch where this Attention is going, so you must understand from where are you watching this 'restless' Attention; it's where you already are.
The attention can go all over the place, but YOU don't. You always remain where you already are; here. Acknowledge that, rather than going with the thought "this is my attention."
Stay where you already are.
Because if you stay with yourSelf, the attention HAS to follow suit and come back to you. You know? Attention, just like thoughts/body/mind, can't live without you. They don't exist independently.
If you acknowledge your place, yourSELF, and rest in this understanding, all these energies (identity, body, thoughts, beliefs) will naturally come back to you and become quiet. Because, indeed, if you rest as awareness while the thoughts run about, the thoughts will dissolve. Of course, they aren't getting their energy to keep going for too long.
Just keep returning to this knowledge, keep remembering that you're already here, as unchanging awareness, and soon enough everything will clear itself out.
[Q] It's my impatience that makes me go back, too.
[Mooji] Again, this is a thought. You're only watching it. You, as you truly are, don't move, don't appear, don't react. You need to acknowledge this, if you want to transcend the mind.
But since the root of everything that appears is empty, you might not see the value or importance in this. Since your true place (yourSELF) is not an informational space and can't be 'seen', you think you need to keep looking to find it. You don't. You already are at the place you want to find. In fact, you can't be anywhere but here.
Just stay. Acknowledge it. Do it, until naturally you'll say "but I am THIS! It can't go anywhere!"
