The sacred furnishings of the Certosa di San Martino were largely dispersed during the suppression of the monasteries between the 18th and 19th centuries in Italy. These remnants are displayed in a 17th century cabinet from the old sacristy of the church. The Certosa was so richly furnished that foreign travelers on the grand tour wrote enthusiastically about various items in guidebooks and diaries of the 17th and 18th centuries.
