Today we celebrate the miracle of Saint Euphemia performed at the Fourth Ecumenical Council in 451 AD at Chalcedon. At this council, the heresy of Eutychian Monophysitism was addressed, the erroneous belief that the divinity of Jesus Christ consumed His human nature. The Orthodox and heterodox could not come to a decision, and thus left it up to the Holy Spirit to intervene.
