Peter smiled softly yet awkwardly when he felt MJ’s hands on his face. He was so stupid to allow this, but on the other hand, it made him feel so great. It couldn’t be wrong if it made him this happy, right ? Maybe he should just keep Peter Parker and Spider-Man as two totally different people. 

It had been a - whirlwind of a time, honestly. Until ... recently. He was healed, although they hadn't figured out a good way for him to wear a shirt yet. So he spent most of his time bare chested; hey, Aunt May had paid a lot of money for those scars, he had no shame in displaying them. Of course he had a whole new array of thick scarring on his back, where the wings had forced their way through his flesh, but still.

Now he had energy to burn and honestly he'd been going stir crazy locked up, being tested on as they constantly tried to figure out how to remove Peter's wings whilst he stubbornly refused to have the appendages amputated. It had taken so much pleading and begging and promises to finally allow him to contact MJ, and then a bunch more to convince them that it would be okay for her to see him.

               fez didn’t mind when she started spending longer in the store, he doesn’t know what her home situation is, but the fact she never seemed to want to be there makes him wonder; but of course he doesn’t ask, it ain’t his place too, and he figures, if she wants him to know she’d tell him. and if he’s honest, he likes having her around, she’s funny -- even when she ain’t trying. he’s shaking his head, “ you ain’t botherin’ me -- finna keep me company while i put this shit away? -- i’d ask ya to help but them boxes be bigger than ya -” he teases, winking at her as he picked up one of the delivery boxes to take out back.

             by the time he comes back through, she’s up on the counter in his usual spot, and he laughs, “you really be makin’ yo self comfy, huh?” playful, of course, because he wouldn’t have it any other way, reaching for the m&ms he picks up a pack and throws them her way.  “ you okay though? -- somethin’ happen or you just missin’ me?” he asks, keeping it light, but for real he’s a little worried, he tears open his own packet on m&ms as he leans back against the counter, nonchalant but with a quiet concern weaved between the lines.

    head tilted back to rest against the way, breathing shallow and pained. he tries to shoot her a smile, to ease her worries, but his split lip has other plans.    “i uh...fell down the stairs?” ah yes, the classic peter excuse: poorly thought out and awkwardly delivered. he stews in silence for a moment, praying he didn’t look half as bad as he felt.    “do you have any ICE? i’ll also take frozen veggies. or uh, pint of ice cream. really, anything cold.”

Peter chuckled NERVOUSLY before he let go of her at her words. Maybe he had been hugging her for too long, right ? he truly was an idiot. He didn’t understand how MJ wasn’t sick of him already.
