Maisie June Rose was a hardcore romantic. There was no doubt about it. She’d often find herself romanticizing every situation in her life and that didn’t seem to end when it came to her friends and siblings’ lives. While she was normally always focused on her own dating life, when Devon dropped that they had some secret crush on their roommate, Maisie was overjoyed. Mainly because getting Devon to even talk about their own dating life was like pulling at teeth. Regardless, Maisie allowed herself to chill out for a bit and move her mind off her sibling’s hidden crush and instead focus on something else she needed. A book. Maisie loved reading, but she often was the kind of person who never bought books. She enjoyed owning her own copies, but the library and Internet just did it for her. However, she was on the move for a plant care book and a new cookbook, which were books she would need to keep and wouldn’t be a library trip. Getting to the local bookstore, she skimmed and scanned around aisles, locating the books she was looking for, and decided to trot down to the romance section. She wouldn’t buy anything, but.... there was no harm in looking, right?
As she perused down the aisle, staring at the binds of books, she almost didn’t notice Monica. “Mon! Hey,” she tried to keep her voice somewhat quiet. Something about being around books made her feel like it was illegal to speak anything above a whisper. To Maisie, this all seemed like fate. Here she was trying to ignore Devon’s crush problems and instead found the said crush in the romance aisle instead. Since chatting in a bookstore felt a little silly, Maisie decided that if she wanted any sort of intel from Monica, she’d have to get herself and Monica out of here. “Are you doing anything after here? I was gonna head down to the Lima Bean. They have a killer lunch menu. You wanna come?”
