Dark ruby with an abrupt edge. Β A nose as stifling and dry as the desert, red dust blowing, sweat dries instantly, combining with the dust into muddy rivulets of failed irrigation on your skin. Β A round sluggish fruit rises up in the background, obese and lumbering--someone you feel sorry for in this heat. Β I would love to say an herbaceous edge lurks at the bottom, but that is just tar and singed hair. Β Sweet and syrupy is the lingering bouquet. In the mouth, thick and plush--a tinny leathery syrup flows across fruit dessert, dry eucalyptus introducing the brash tannin where--in classic Shiraz fashion--the obnoxiously ripe fruit holds the most sway.
