Song Review: Molly Tuttle with Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives- “Cold Rain and Snow” (Live, April 3, 2026)

Molly Tuttle recently fronted Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, singing a balladic arrangement of “Cold Rain and Snow” from the female’s perspective.

Like her protagonist, Tuttle is a strong frontwoman, singing sans accompaniment and sharing solos with Stuart on mandolin and fellow acoustic guitarist Kenny Vaughan. As this unfolds, Harry Stinson brushes a snare and Chris Scruggs plucks out a few notes on double bass. Stuart and the Fab Supes are as sympathetic as Tuttle is strong, confidently ceding the stage and giving their temporary leader everything she needs, including the space to shine.

This is neither Del McCoury nor Grateful Dead’s “Cold Rain and Snow.” Nor is it Stuart’s. This is Molly Tuttle taking over one of America’s finest live bands, enjoying their support and earning Stuart’s silent praise in the form of clasped hands and bowed head.

If she hadn’t arrived before then, Tuttle most certainly arrived April 3 in Connecticut.
