Well, I'm pretty much closing up shop, I'm afraid. I just queued up a week's worth of Proud Authors and a few Follower Recs, and for now I will leave the Inbox open. (Expect erratic and prolonged turnaround times on any Ask. If you do it off anon then I can tag you when the post eventually happens).

I still have nearly 100 fic recs that I haven't made posts for... although they are all bookmarked in my AO3 Wangxianficrecs' Collection so be sure to go cruise through that... sorting/filtering is much easier through AO3! I feel terrible that I haven't made posts, yet, and they may yet trickle out from time to time as I manage to make them.

BUT. Mostly I've gotta go deal with my Real Life (and eventually pursue new fandoms!), so y'all will be abandoned.  I'm so sorry the new mods thing didn't work out, but I'll leave this blog up forever as an online catalog for y'all to browse. And like I said, some posts may trickle through from time to time.

Of course, your Mods over on @wangxianficfinder are going strong and doing fantastic work helping you find fics to suit your mood or those that you can't find anymore.

Good morning, y'all. I know I've been gone a lot lately, but I'll be back soonish, I swear. I've been fostering kittens (I have so many pictures!) and getting both sons graduated and one moved to the U.K. and wading through teenagers and nieces.

Speaking of nieces, I'll update you on them shortly, and want to thank you so much for your donations to their fundraiser. Over a year later, things are FINALLY settled.

There's been some more trauma in my family. My cousin Lacee just had double kidney failure: she's only 32, and now she's on dialysis 3x/week. AND, this is so fucking tragic, I can't get over it... Halle, her younger sister (28) died on Saturday. (Fentanyl, maybe, no one knows for sure, yet.) I changed these girls' diapers. This is so unfair.

If you've got a little extra, Lacee's friend made a GoFundMe for her to get through the next few months and pay hospital bills.  She’s a waitress/bartender, so you can infer what you will about her insurance and savings.

We're all going to a funeral tomorrow for someone who was FAR too young to die. I'm so angry about it.

Thank goodness for kittens in these hard times, huh?

*Please, please be careful of anything that might be laced with fentanyl, y'all. Many people never even know they're ingesting it, and then just... don't wake up. My nieces' father works at a funeral home, and says they get too many young bodies there because of that.*

Here's Lacee carrying my train at my wedding waaaay back in '98 (25 years this year!). And below that is little Halle, who was a very serious flower girl indeed. I love these girls. Have I said I'm angry. I'm so enraged. And heartbroken. Life shouldn't be this hard, and I'm going to compose a stern letter to The Management to complain about it.

Blink Blink.   Wow.  Sigh.  I mean, much of it can be missed by not being on Twitter, but I mostly only see it by people I follow trying to REFUTE the latest thing.  Or occasionally in the askboxes of others.

Essentially, Western fans of The Untamed often and frequently talk about the novel on which it was based as lesser, dirty, wrong, shameful, and homophobic, because it includes kinky sex and was written by a woman.  And is BL. 

Other than New Job, is there anything in particular right now you feel is transition/anxiety? What do you think the key is supposed to tell you?

That’s the thing, normally I only find the keys in real times of upheaval, and my life is actually settling right now. I was saying in the other post about the dream I had where the Cryptids escaped that maybe I was subconsciously waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it occurs to me that if taken at face value as a random spiritual gift of the universe, the arrival of a MASTER key IN MY HOME rather than out on the street where I normally find them could be a reassurance that things are going to be okay. I like that interpretation best of all the occult ones I can think of.

New ghost?

I suppose it’s possible. We tend to think of ghosts as beings that died in situ and stayed put, but I know in some cultures they’re drifting beings that will latch on to people or locations. And I do have a rather nice little ghost house I built for Ghost, sitting on my shelf, that I honestly don’t think she’s using. Maybe a new ghost found it and settled in!

How many keys have you found now???

None this year, that’s the strange thing! The last time I found any at all, it was two years ago when I was buying the condo. Then I found three or four, I think.

One of the upsides of having pets is that when this kind of stuff happens I can just mutter 'the dog did it' and pretend to forget about it, giving me plausible deniability to ignore whatever is baiting me into investigating

I’m not gonna lie, the most likely explanation is actually that the last tenant left it here and one of the cats ferreted it out of a corner of a cupboard, or from under a loose kitchen tile or something. :D

You still haven't finished the tip of the sword?

Nah, there’s a couple of things I have to go back and finish but I figure I’ll do it at the end -- or wait until I’m doing the colors on that part of the design and do it then. Crowley’s hand will need to be fixed before I do the colors, but the sword’s pretty straightforward and doesn’t need fixing, just doing, so I can wait.

Have you recounted the doors in your apartment?

Apparently people who live in large, dense cities with expensive urban real estate do tend to have dreams where they find a door they’ve never opened and it leads to an entirely new room in their home they didn’t know existed. I’ve only had that dream once and it was part of an involved “I have to accomplish a very complex task in a short amount of time” anxiety dream, but I understand the sentiment for sure.

Apparently (according to my husband) the way to do it without having to make a creator page is to *not* sign up to Patreon, but to just use the little "be my patron" (or whatever) button of the individual people you want to support. Presumably the downside of this would be that it's harder to *find* said people, if you aren't actively on Patreon.

Well, and also, how does the page remember you paid for them, if you leave and come back and don’t have some kind of login? Maybe the “be my patron” button leads to a login setup of some kind?

There's Ko-fi? A lot of creators have that, and you can set up regular donations without anything more than paypal or a credit card.

I might do that for people I don’t want bonus content from, yeah. Or even just a recurring paypal donation, most people have a paypal.me. I’m still figuring it out.
