This game combined with the comments made by FishStickOnAStick on his video "A Thoroughly Deserved Roasting of Mixtape" is inspiring me to make my own game where it starts just like this one and you are supposed to hate it but the second part is how it all failed and they all reunite again and they just fall further into the bottom of the barrel in a way you can actually symphatize with them (because as adults they can say they were stupid teens and in adulthood they can also be confronted by other people who will also call them out for their antics back when they were teens. Say this is not normal for teens)
"Mixtape: Nothing Hits"
The disaster of girl and boy failures man actually good idea
Have them fail, rejected from higher education and stuck on a minimum wage job, try multiple side gigs, lonely for the most part and without dreams or ambitions, they don't like each other as much as they used to and Stacey's old friends are also more aware of how awful she used to be, but Stacey now older has now learned to take recognize her flaws and try to be better even though she's now much worse than who she was as a teen. Just who she used to be x10 + she smokes + she actually apologizes and tries to be better + still inconsiderate and egotistical but not in her own world and she sees the effect she has on others. Stacey gave up on her dreams but has not given up in getting something better than a minimum wage job or the lifestyle that they have so it's like she pushes her old friends to join her but they are realistic and pessimistic, they try hard to make money and network and there is a point where the desperation has gone so far they are eventually convinced to recreate what they did as teens, but this time with realistic consequences. They will be chased by the cops and be afraid they are risking their lives but they are too mentally unstable to stop. Have the friends don't like each others as much as they used to, just together to try to bring back something that's not there anymore.
In the first game 25:10 can be exactly the same but in the second game it can be shown this is the moment her dad completely gave up on her and her relationship with her father was completely broken.
Give them a bad ending. There's no good ending. A bad ending that feels deserved, that people will like, and people will feel bad for the protagonists. This is a story of a failed redemption.
I mean yeah you are supposed to dislike the first game, but the second should be something people will like and also something that shows the first was not tone deaf and it was leading up to the second game. I'll write a bit more of the idea for it, but I don't have the budget or talent so it'll just be an idea. Like I won't even get started on it, it just can't be a visual novel or rpg maker game like I usually do, it has to be 3d and with beautiful visuals like this game just to further sell people into the same delussions these teens were living through, so I don't have the budget to do that and that's a very high bar to suddenly set. I rather do something else. Like for this I might just share the full story somewhere online and frame it as a mixtape fanfiction even though I'll take so many liberties it'll be an original thing (I don't like to write fanfics).
I am willing to learn code though. Gameplay and code is not as hard for a game that's basically a collection of minigames. I can learn to do 3d modelling, animation, music, and all sorts of things. The hard part is making something that's videogame studio quality on your own and without dedicating years of my life to it. There's things I am more passionate about.
