Yeah, can I get uhhh.... mer KomaHina headcanons?
This can honestly go both ways but thereās been way too many Komaeda as the mermaid already so letās go with Hinata-kun ovo
Okay so this works on the same premise as the others: merpeeps finding themselves enamored with the surface world and wanting to be a part of it. We cool? Good. Now the difference. He aināt some royalty.Ā
Our guy Hinata is just your usual merfolk. No ranks, no designation, nada. Heās completely as average as they come. Thatās why he wants to come to the surface so bad. He thinks that maybe up there, he wonāt be too ānormal.ā Ha.Ā
Now, rumor has it in their kingdom that in the dark recesses of the ocean none dare wonder, lies a sea-witch, deep in sleep and awaiting someone to come and ask for a wish. Of course, Hinata contemplated going there and asking for his wish to come true many times but opportunity cost, you know? It is just a rumor after all. What are the odds of it being true versus the odds of him potentially dying in his journey? Too high, my dudes. Way too risky. He aināt dumb enough to do that. Or at least, he likes to think so anyway.Ā
You see, during one of his forays in the surface, he came upon a boat filled with partying merchants. Iām sure you can tell by now what happens so letās cut to the chase: a storm happens, lightning strikes the ship, and everyone dies except for one.Ā
That one lone survivor is Nagito Komaeda, first of his name and third in the line of succession. He is on his way home from studying overseas when the storm struck. Bookworm that he is, he isnāt much for partying and that is when Hinata first sees him: looking over the horizon in his lonesomeness as the party fills the ship with life and laughter behind him. He is beauty, he is grace, Hinata gets hit by gay in the face.
So Hinata saves the guy, right? Neat. Anyway, he knows that lingering wonāt bring anything good but he canāt help it! Look at the guy and his pretty, pretty face with fluffy, puffy hair! Heās the moon given life in mortal form - how can he possibly leave him be and risk more danger coming to find him?! (Also, Hinata is just simply so, so weak against beauty beyond compare. So he lingers, admiring the princeās sleeping face as long as he can. What a sap!)
He doesnāt stay for long though. As soon as mortals start making their way to the beach, to search for survivors probably, Hinata makes his escape and watches them tend to the prince. That should have been the end of it: Hinata has done what he thought is right, and sated what curiosity he has for the world above but nope.
By some stupid nagging from his gut, Hinata swims to the surface, to the same place where he left the prince, and each and every single day, there he finds him once more, standing in his lonesome and seemingly waiting, searching for something (āor someone,ā the irritating voice in his head says).
And that is why Hajime Hinata, painfully plain normie of the century, finds himself in front of the infamous giant kelp forest, also known as the entrance to the sea witchās cursed dwelling, contemplating whether entering it is worth the risk. After all, on one hand, should the sea witch be real, heāll get the chance to meet the prince on equal terms. On the other hand, he can easily be tricked into something bad and die a horrible, agonizing death. Yikes!
Unbeknownst to our poor, tragic hero, a pair watches him from within the darkness, wondering as to what his choice will be. One turns away, eager to go back to sleep, bored already of the obvious choice thatāll soon happen. Meanwhile, the other stays, grin splitting her face wide at the sheer dilemma the merman is in. āLifeās just full of tough choices, aināt it?ā she says as laughter comes pouring out of her in droves, excited to see what will come out of this entire thing.Ā
This is getting kinda long and this seems like a good place to cut it so... yeet!
I have more plans for this so please remind me some other time ;w;
